Recreation.gov - Camping, cabins, RVs, permits, passes, and more

Recreation.gov is the federal government’s centralized travel planning and reservation platform. Since it was first conceived as an information sharing service in 1995, this public program has continued to grow and evolve. Recreation.gov is now the outdoor recreation system for 14 federal agencies, designed to support land stewardship and enable visitors to discover and experience public lands and waters. Recreation.gov is committed to equity, fairness, conservation, and customer experience by providing high-quality facility management solutions and visitor reservation systems. This valuable government service provides 14 participating federal agencies with secure and compliant technology solutions and facility management tools, as well as dedicated resources and support for training, communications, technology needs, and day-to-day operations. The 14 agencies that provide reservations or data through Recreation.gov provide all location descriptions and imagery; set policies, guidelines, business rules, and fees; determine available sites and activities; and share data through the platform. Local agency managers work with the Recreation.gov government and contractor teams to provide the best visitor experience. Agencies that provide reservations on Recreation.gov Bureau of Land Management The BLM manages more than 245 million acres of land, primarily in 12 western states, including Alaska. The public lands we manage offer more recreational opportunities than any other federal agency, and more than 99 percent of them are free to access. The BLM works closely with partners so visitors of all ages can enjoy countless types of outdoor activities, from camping and hiking to hunting, fishing, whitewater rafting, and off-road vehicle driving. With more than 55 million people living within 25 miles of these lands, BLM-managed lands are considered America’s Outdoor Wonderland, a treasure “from the backyard to the backcountry.” Bureau of Reclamation The Bureau of Reclamation’s water resources program is one of the most popular water-based outdoor recreation programs in the United States, encompassing approximately 6.5 million acres of land and water, much of which is accessible to public outdoor recreation. In addition to providing water-based outdoor recreation opportunities, these recreation areas often include significant natural and cultural resources and offer unique educational and interpretive opportunities. Twelve reclamation projects have been designated as National Recreation Areas, managed by either the National Park Service or the U.S. Forest Service. National Archives and Records Administration The National Archives and Records Administration serves American democracy by protecting and preserving the records of our government, ensuring that people can discover, use, and learn from this documentary heritage.
