Groninger Museum in the Netherlands

The Groningen Museum is an important art museum in the Netherlands. The museum is located on three small islands in the Wabinden Canal in Groningen, Netherlands, and is connected to the riverbank by two bridges, one of which is a suspension bridge for walking and cycling. The entire building is built on pile foundations, with the lower layer used for exhibitions and services located 60 centimeters below the water surface, as if floating on the surface of the water.

The museum was led by Milan based designer Alessandro Mendini and invited Philippe Stark, Michele De Lucchi, and the Blue Sky team to participate in the design. The exhibition hall is presented as a three-dimensional artwork, breaking the box shape of functionalism and emphasizing the interaction between the interior and exterior. Visitors can suddenly see the external world inside the museum, or they may stand on a platform above the city canal.

Archaeological discoveries and historical artifacts: The museum houses numerous archaeological discoveries, as well as portraits of outstanding figures from Groningen province over the past few centuries. These collections are important materials for studying local history and culture.

Applied Arts and Handicrafts: Covering local applied arts and handicrafts such as Groningen silverware, its exquisite craftsmanship and unique artistic style showcase the charm of traditional Dutch handicrafts.

Eastern Ceramics: Collecting Eastern ceramics imported from various Eastern countries in the 17th century, it is one of the most important collections of Eastern ceramics in the Netherlands and has significant historical and artistic value.

Modern art works: including expressionist art works from the 1920s to 1930s, new expressionist oil paintings from the 1980s, and postmodern art works, among which postmodern art works mainly come from Italy.
