OverBlog was founded by 3 engineers with a passion for the web. In 2004, blogs were booming and knowledge sharing and dissemination were exploding thanks to the web. But there was a downside: only a very informed public, able to "master the code", could create their blog independently...
Our three co-founders, Frédéric, Gilles and Julien, had a common vision: everyone should be able to share their passion on the web with one click. We had to democratize access to blogs! To achieve this, we had to break down technical barriers: "We will create a super simple tool that will allow everyone to blog themselves. Even our mothers! ".
The adventure began in a loft apartment in Toulouse. A few months later, OverBlog was born, paving the way for brilliant, totally eclectic blogs and new genres. For example, a photo-novel blog of a Belgian mother's stuffed animal, or a blog of a salesman who publishes photos of his bare feet in every new city. It works!

During this process, we chose to operate with an innovative model: revenue sharing. This was unheard of at the time, and we are still the only ones doing it. Specifically, it means that OverBlog offers a service to bloggers who want to display ads on their blog. The revenue from this ad is then shared between OverBlog and the blogger. It is transparent, obligation-free, and in line with OverBlog's vision.
In the following years, the team grew. We focused on consolidating existing features and developing new ones that emerged with the explosive growth of social networks. In France, Italy, and throughout Europe, thousands of users chose OverBlog as their blog.
At the same time, the purpose of the web was evolving, and the role of the blog was gradually changing. With the explosion of social media, it is losing its central position in the use of Internet users. Today we have Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, YouTube channels and sometimes blogs. There are multiple media, which brings great wealth. The only pitfall: the value of our content is scattered and it is difficult to discover it.
That's why we revamped OverBlog: to restore the blog to its position as a reference. The blog must once again become the place to find all the content that is valuable to you. We had to change everything, question ourselves and agree to start from scratch. In the end we are very proud of the result.
The new OverBlog is your home. A home where you can do what you want, your content belongs to you and you make the decisions. A home that respects your articles (regardless of their format), connects you to all social networks and you can choose to share some or all of your publications online. A reliable, safe home where you can centralize everything and keep it simple.
With OverBlog you can share the best of yourself.
