I am a pilot who is addicted to kite, helicopter and jet aircraft, and I almost keep looking for wind, waves, metal and pink snow.Since programming is my passion, I wrote Windyty.com as my pet project in 2014.The original version is inspired by the product of Switzerland METEOBLUE and another project called "Earth". The project shows animated wind particles on the earth.I have completely rewritten the open source code of the earth, and also reached an agreement with MeteOblue to use some of their products at the time.In this way, Windyty was born (renamed Windy after a few years).My goal is to make Windy small and fast, so that it can be used in the most remote places.

In 2014, Windy was born, formerly known as Windyty.

In 2015, the Windy team added several programmers: Milan and Thomas.We use GFS and NEMS as the main prediction models.

In 2016, we launched Android and iOS mobile applications and renamed Windyty to WindyTV, which proved to be a big mistake.As one of the few companies in the world, we use the ECMWF predictive model, which is considered the most accurate available model.

In 2017, our team increased to 5 people. We changed the name to Windy and had a short address www.windy.com.In the hurricane season, Windy has become the main source of weather information about the government, institutions and individuals in affected areas, and actually saves life.

In 2018, we launched new European weather radars, thunderstorm forecasts and many other major innovations.

In 2019, we launched new satellite coverage, route planner, donation, new iOS/Android applications Windy Maps and "reality and forecast" functions.We also integrate Webcams.travel and lookr.com website into Windy.Our team developed to 15 people.

In 2020, we launched new air quality superimposed, light flow and enhanced satellite layers.Windy Premium provides better and more detailed 1 -hour forecast data, updated 4 times a day.
