Beijing Sport University

Beijing Sport University was founded in 1953. It was originally named the Central Institute of Physical Education. It was renamed Beijing Institute of Physical Education in 1956 and Beijing Sport University in 1993. It is a national key university, a key university of the national "211 Project", and one of the first batch of national "double first-class" universities. It has a glorious history of running schools, profound cultural heritage and solid foundation for running schools. It enjoys a high reputation at home and abroad and is affiliated to the State General Administration of Sports. The school is located on Xinxi Road, Haidian District, covering an area of ​​755,000 square meters, with a construction area of ​​about 410,000 square meters, and has nearly 100 indoor and outdoor training venues.

The school currently has four departments: the Department of Sports and Health, the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Department of Olympic Sports, and the Department of Sports Engineering. The Department of Sports and Health has seven colleges, including the School of Education (Sports Teachers College) and the School of Psychology; the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences has eight colleges, including the School of Marxism and the School of Management; the Department of Olympic Sports has nine colleges (schools), including the China Football Sports Academy (China Football Coaches College) and the China Basketball Sports Academy; the Department of Sports Engineering has the School of Sports Engineering. The Party School of the General Administration of Sport of the Communist Party of China, the Cadre Training Center of the General Administration of Sport of the Communist Party of China, and the Coaches College of the General Administration of Sport of the Communist Party of China are located in the school.

The school is based on undergraduate education and focuses on postgraduate education. It is one of the first batch of doctoral degree awarding units in my country's sports colleges. There are 41 undergraduate majors, including sports education and sports training, including 9 national first-class undergraduate major construction points and 6 provincial first-class undergraduate major construction points. The discipline layout involves 9 disciplines, including education, law, economics, literature, science, engineering, medicine, management, and art. The first-level discipline of sports and all the second-level disciplines under its jurisdiction are national key disciplines. It has 1 Beijing key second-level discipline, 1 interdisciplinary Beijing key discipline and 1 Beijing university high-tech construction discipline; the overall level of sports disciplines ranked first in the first three rounds of national discipline evaluations, and ranked "A+" in the fourth round of national discipline evaluations. The school has the right to confer doctoral degrees in the first-level discipline of sports and the right to confer master's degrees in six first-level disciplines of sports, Marxist theory, education, psychology, clinical medicine, and public administration; it has two professional master's degree authorization points in sports and journalism and communication, as well as the first postdoctoral research mobile station in sports in the country.

The school currently has 7 provincial and ministerial key laboratories, including the Ministry of Education's Key Laboratory of Sports and Physical Health and the State General Administration of Sports' Key Laboratory of Physical Training and Physical Function Recovery, 1 Beijing Higher Education Engineering Research Center, 2 National Sports General Administration Research Bases, 1 Sports Science Society Training Base, 1 National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center, and 2 Beijing Higher Education Experimental Teaching Demonstration Centers. China Sports Strategy Research Institute, Winter Olympics Culture Research Center, Chinese Traditional Sports Research Institute, and Sports Industry Development Research Center are selected as source think tanks in the China Think Tank Index (CTTI). The library has a collection of more than 1.3 million books.

The school currently has more than 13,000 students at all levels and types, including more than 9,600 undergraduates and more than 3,000 graduate students. The first-time employment rate of graduates in the past five years has exceeded the average employment rate of colleges and universities in Beijing.

The three principals of the school, Zhong Shitong, Ma Qiwei and Jin Jichun, respectively won the "Olympic Movement Silver Medal", "Sports Learning and Research Award" and "Sports and Education Award" of the International Olympic Committee.

The school has always adhered to the major strategic needs of the country and the forefront of discipline development, and has hosted more than 180 national scientific research projects (topics), including 3 projects of the National Science and Technology Support Plan of the "10th Five-Year Plan", "11th Five-Year Plan" and "12th Five-Year Plan", 3 National Key R&D Plan Science and Technology Winter Olympics Special Projects, and 2 Key Special Projects for Active Health and Aging Science and Technology Response; more than 270 scientific research awards at the provincial and ministerial levels, including 7 National Science and Technology Progress Awards. "Journal of Beijing Sport University" was founded in 1966. It is now a core Chinese journal of Peking University, a CSSCI source journal of the Chinese Social Science Research Evaluation Center of Nanjing University, a "Chinese Science and Technology Core Journal (Humanities and Social Sciences)" of the Ministry of Science and Technology, a core journal of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in Chinese Humanities and Social Sciences, and an authoritative journal of Wuhan University RCCSE. "Sports Science (English)") (Journal of Science in Sport and Exercise) SSEJ was founded in 2019. It is an English academic journal in the field of sports science under the supervision of the State General Administration of Sports and hosted by Beijing Sport University.

Since its establishment, the school has established inter-school relations with 157 foreign universities in 52 countries and regions around the world, and has trained more than 15,000 international students from 106 countries. Among them, Dr. Oleg Matytsin was elected President of the International University Sports Federation in 2015. The school has awarded a doctorate to Zlatko Matesa, former Prime Minister of Croatia and President of the Croatian Olympic Committee; honorary doctorates to seven internationally renowned figures, including Jacques Rogge, President of the International Olympic Committee; the title of "Honorary Professor" to eight people, including Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee, Gian Franco Kasper, President of the International Ski Federation, and Kate Caithness, President of the World Curling Federation; and the title of "Visiting Professor" to Gilbert Marius Felli, senior adviser to the International Olympic Committee, and appointed him as "Honorary Minister" of the Department of Olympic Sports. The school is approved by the Ministry of Education to recruit "Chinese Government Scholarship Students in China", a national high-level university construction project funded by the government-sponsored graduate student program, and the European Commission's "Erasmus+" teacher-student exchange program funded by the school. The sports human science and competitive sports training discipline innovation and intelligence introduction base, sports science and health discipline innovation and intelligence introduction base have been approved by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Science and Technology. Relying on the internationalized school-running platform, the school coordinates high-quality international education resources, and has established a full-scale international cooperation training mechanism from undergraduate to graduate students, and the internationalization level of talent training is constantly improving.
