The birth of Storyblocks was to solve the problem of creative personnel obtaining affordable materials. It is the world's first media subscription service that provides video, audio, and image materials.
During the project, Joel Holland was surprised to find that the cost of a B-roll lens from Seattle he needed was so high. As an independent film producer, his budget is very tight. He quickly calculated and found that the cost of buying a plane ticket, filming and editing was lower. So he did indeed do so - afterwards, he listed all the lenses on eBay at a price lower than the cost of the B-roll lens he initially found. When the bidding began to roll in, he knew he had already dug out what creative people needed.
Originally selling DVD materials on eBay, it later developed into a digital catalog and was launched as an online subscription service Videoblocks, where you can access an unlimited library of materials for just one fee. The response to this service is shocking, proving that creative personnel are ready to embrace change. Driven by collaboration with independent photographers worldwide, the available materials continue to increase. When asked about the next steps, Joel made a simple suggestion: "Why don't we ask members what they need?" Since then, we have added inventory audio and images for members to input information to help select prices, logos, and more. Now, you can find inventory videos, audio, and images under the name Storyblocks.
