Bedford University

Bedford University is an internationally renowned and award-winning university with over 100 years of high-quality education tradition, and we take great pride in it. We are committed to cultivating students to become well-educated, employable, and entrepreneurial global citizens.

Our dynamic and international student body consists of approximately 20000 students from 115 countries. The university is ranked among the top 300 universities under the age of 50 in the Times Higher Education World Young University Rankings. In our recent QAA review, we were recognized for the high quality and standards of higher education (QAA, 2015).

We have two main campuses in Luton and Bedford, and a large health education facility at the world-renowned Stoke Mandeville Hospital in Aylesbury. We are also active globally, with an increasing number of international partners in countries such as Trinidad, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, and Guyana.

We are in a leading position in expanding educational opportunities.

1. 99% of our local students come from public schools (The Times Good University Guide, 2024).
2. 57% of parents have not attended university.
3. About 70% of them are mature returnees to education.
4. About 50% of people come from different ethnic backgrounds and are underrepresented in higher education.

Through economic support, we encourage those who have left caregiving or live independently to consider pursuing higher education. We are one of only 22 universities in the UK to receive the National Network for Caregivers' Education (NNECL) quality mark.

In 2020, we launched the "Zero Carbon Goal" campaign with the goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. Since then, our commitment to sustainable development has earned us the Ecological Campus Platinum Award, which we have received for four consecutive years. The university also won first prize in the Human and Earth University Green Alliance, ranked third in the UK, and received a five-star rating for environmental sustainability in the 2024 Times Higher Education UK University Rankings.
