The history of Overdrive

Steve Potash founded OverDrive in 1986 with a mission to provide content in novel and innovative ways, evolving from digital legal books to distributing e-books on floppy disks. With the growing possibility of the Internet and digital books in the 1990s, we launched the content distribution service in 2000 and the first library digital lending platform in 2003.

Over the years, we have established long-term and trustworthy relationships with publishers, libraries, and school partners around the world.
