PicBackMan was started because founder Vaibhav Domkundwar was frustrated with the pain of backing up photos and videos to online accounts. Uploaders from Flickr, SmugMug, Google, and others were too cumbersome and buggy. Other third-party uploaders seemed like side projects that never took off. So the team did some research and found that there were a lot of people with the same problem. It seemed like they had found a problem that needed to be solved, so the team began the mission - to build the simplest, fastest, smartest uploader to automatically back up your precious memories. To say we are happy with what we have achieved so far is an understatement - users from over 125 countries have backed up over 60,000,000 memories with PicBackMan, and you can hear over 200 of their stories here. So the team has set a goal of reaching over 1 million users worldwide, which is something we are very excited about.
WALA Heilmittel GmbH has been developing natural preparations since 1935. In its early years, the company was seen as a pioneer and a forerunner in a society that had little knowledge of natural preparations at the time. Quick technical solutions seemed to replace coherent thinking. But this was not universally the case. Anthroposophical doctors were one of the main groups that enthusiastically followed Rudolf Hauschkas method of producing natural medicines without the use of alcohol as a preservative. The demand for his preparations prompted Hauschka to found WALA in Ludwigsburg in 1935, and soon after, to open subsidiaries in Vienna and London. After the Nazi Partys ban and the imprisonment of Dr. Hauschka and his future wife, Dr. Margarete Stavenhagen, WALA moved several times before finally being established in Bad Boll/Eckwälden in 1950 - where it remains today. For many years, Rudolf Hauschka had been thinking about launching his own skin care line to complement the pharmaceutical line – an extension of preparations for maintaining skin health. However, his idea did not become a reality until he met Vienna-born Elisabeth Sigmund, who ordered the preparations of her own skin care products from WALA. The beautician, who was living in Stockholm at the time, traveled to Ekwalden to work with the pharmaceutical expert on the formulation of the facial care products. Together, they developed solutions for stable cream bases without chemical/synthetic emulsifiers and created fragrance blends with natural essential oils. The first products were launched in 1967 and Elisabeth Sigmund trained the first Dr. Hauschka beautician in 1971.
