Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology enjoys the reputation of "the cradle of Chinese meteorological talents". It is jointly built by the People's Government of Jiangsu Province, the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, the China Meteorological Administration, and the State Oceanic Administration. It is a national "double first-class" world-class discipline construction university, selected into the "2011 Plan", "Featured Key Discipline Project", and "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program". It has a complete bachelor's, master's, and doctoral education and training system. It is a member of the World Meteorological Organization and is a national key university with atmospheric science as its feature and coordinated development of multiple disciplines such as ocean, information, environment, and management. Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology is a national "double first-class" construction university and a Class A construction university in the Jiangsu High-level University Construction Peak Plan. Born to serve the needs of the national strategy and national economic construction of New China, the School of Meteorology of Nanjing University (the predecessor of the school) was established in 1960 and was affiliated to the former Central (Military Commission) Meteorological Bureau. In 1963, it was independently established as Nanjing Meteorological College. In 1978, it was listed as a national key university. In 2000, it was transferred to the management of the Jiangsu Provincial People's Government. In 2004, it was renamed Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology. Since 2007, the school has been jointly built by the Jiangsu Provincial People's Government, the China Meteorological Administration, the Ministry of Education, the State Oceanic Administration and other parties. It is now a central and local co-constructed university mainly managed by Jiangsu Province. Among them, Journal of Atmospheric Sciences is a core journal of Peking University in Chinese, a journal included in CSCD, and a journal of Statistics Source of Chinese Science and Technology Papers; Journal of Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology is a core journal of Peking University in Chinese, a journal of Statistics Source of Chinese Science and Technology Papers; Yuejiang Academic Journal is an extended journal of AMI Comprehensive Evaluation (A Journal) of Chinese Humanities and Social Sciences Journals. The library has a collection of more than 2.43 million paper documents, nearly 60 databases, more than 1.99 million Chinese and foreign electronic books, more than 2.26 million electronic journals, and annual subscriptions to 1,013 paper Chinese and foreign journals. It is the university library with the most complete atmospheric science documents in China.
