De Marque has been committed to utilizing technology to promote the development of culture and knowledge for over 30 years. Over the years, we have continuously transformed and utilized our professional knowledge and expertise to provide assistance to creators, publishers, teachers, students, and readers in the field of digital publishing.
De Marque connects people and creators from all over the world, making it easy for culture to thrive and develop in various places. De Marque Group is the world's leading digital content ecosystem, dedicated to connecting and promoting global online culture. The key to success lies in effective collaboration with key players in the publishing industry, as well as innovation and enthusiasm. Technology will enhance discoverability, diversity, and openness by dispersing data and creating user-friendly applications and forward thinking services for content creators, distributors, and consumers.
De Marque was founded in 1990 by Marc Boutet, who was 15 years old at the time and founded the company in the basement of his parents' house. Originally just a summer job, it inspired his entrepreneurial spirit and became his lifelong career.
Nevertheless, these inconspicuous beginnings were crucial for De Marque's first foray into software development, as Tap'Touche (Typing Pal in English) was born during this period. Due to its ease of use and engaging experience, this typing learning software has become very popular, driving the rapid development of this emerging company.
De Marque is no longer just a side project, but has become a legitimate entrant into the education software market.
Starting from our initial office operations, De Marque continued to develop Tap'Touche while expanding into other products such as Budget Express and magazine digitization, but our position in the education market is undeniable. Due to the popularity of Tap'Touche in schools, we have successfully established strong relationships with teachers and academic advisors.
Thanks to this network, we have started distributing other digital and technological resources to the classroom. From online dictionaries to image libraries on CD ROMs, we help numerous like-minded K-12 developers connect with teachers and students.
We have become the backbone of classroom modernization and helped pioneer the era of interactive whiteboards. We also founded the L 'É cole branch é e magazine, advocating for educational progress, helping education cope with the challenges of the digital age, and promoting student success.
In addition to educational distribution activities, De Marque's entry into digital content distribution is also an important turning point that truly defines the company's current position while remaining true to its original mission.
In 2008, in collaboration with the French National Association of Book Editors (ANEL), the first product in the Cantook ecosystem was launched. Cantuq Publishing is an e-book and audiobook distribution service aimed at helping Quebec publishers enter the digital publishing industry.
This technology is highly innovative and has been exported to France (2009), Italy (2010), and Spain (2014). Currently, the company is responsible for the global distribution of digital content for major publishing alliances.
The Kantok Library's electronic borrowing service was launched in 2011. Through collaboration with Bibliopresto, public libraries in Quebec have introduced digital borrowing services, which have subsequently been introduced in Canada, France, Spain, Belgium, and Switzerland.
Although De Marque has established international influence, the company has achieved significant growth through strategic acquisitions such as Libra, Feedbooks, Aldiko, and Cyber Libris. These acquisitions not only broaden our horizons by adding online bookstores, mobile reading applications, and academic content, but also solidify our position in Europe and explore new markets in North Africa.
This expansion has made De Marque an expert in the field of accessible reading. Accessible e-books can determine the difficulty level of academic journeys and allow readers to easily read in their leisure time without any challenges. That's why De Marque is committed to developing accessibility tools in our reading application and providing services to help publishers transition to this new standard.
Education remains at the core of De Marque's mission, and we have launched the Cantook É education reading platform in all school libraries in Quebec through Bibliopresto's Biblious project, which has achieved great success and further demonstrates our commitment to utilizing technology for learning!
Nowadays, De Marque has become an expanding ecosystem of products and services, unified under the Cantook brand. In addition to professional solutions, we also adopt new methods to bring the best reading tools and environments to the public, including the Cantook mobile application (formerly Aldiko) and our online bookstore.
But De Marque's story is first and foremost about a passionate team determined to cultivate a unique relationship between publishers, booksellers, libraries, schools... readers and books.
