Chess.com was founded in 2005 with two friends - Jay and Erik (it's me!) - who believed that the world needed a better chess website. We met in college 10 years ago, when I first became obsessed with chess - Jay was the president of the chess club. We became friends because of our shared love for chess. There are many places online where you can play chess, but none of them are like home. We envisioned a place where people could establish their own chess homes online, and everything would be centralized in one place: playing chess in a safe and friendly environment, finding friends, saving their games, telling their chess stories, sharing ideas, and learning from each other. In the following years, Jay and I invested our life savings, our hard work, and most of our conscious time to establish Chess.com. But we never imagined what Chess.com would become!
