MESCIUS was founded in Sendai, Japan in the early 1950s by a group of American educators. This small group focuses on high-quality English education and has established world-class primary schools in northern Japan. After the success of the training school, people realized that the company's software needs could not meet the existing demands in the market. Therefore, MESCIUS extends to the fields of technology and software to create what is needed.

At the beginning of the 21st century, MESCIUS acquired three companies and achieved strong growth: DataDynamics (ActiveReports) in 2008, FarPoint (Spread) in 2009, and Components One (Components One Studio and Wijmo) in 2012. In January 2023, MESCIUS (then known as Grape City) established a capital and business alliance with iSigma Capital Corporation. Through recent collaborations, the company has announced a new name and brand, MESCIUS GmbH, to reaffirm its commitment to innovation and growth, as well as its steadfast commitment to providing customers with top-notch developer and enterprise solutions.
