ISWC International Standard Music Work Coding Scheme

ISWC (International Standard Musical Work Code) is an international standard music work encoding scheme that is designed to provide a global unique identifier for music works.

ISWC was jointly developed by the International Standard Organization (ISO) and the International Music Publisher (IFPI) and was officially released in 2008.ISWC uses a 12 -digit code to identify each music work. The first seven of them represent the country or region code of the distribution of the work, and the latter 5 represents the only identifier of the work.

The purpose of ISWC is to provide a unified, global universal music work identifier, which helps solve the problem of copyright management and copyright protection in the music industry.By using ISWC, music works can be accurately identified and tracked globally, which helps protect the rights and interests of music creators and copyright owners.

ISWC has been widely adopted globally. Many music publishers, broadcasting companies and online music service providers use ISWC to identify their music works.In addition, some music playback devices and digital music platforms also support the use of ISWC to identify and play music works.
