New York Magazine

The New York Magazine is obsessed with documenting the ideas, characters, and cultural events that will forever change our world. Since November 2019, as part of Vox Media, beloved and influential New York brands include the groundbreaking biweekly magazine New York and six thriving vertical industries: Intelligencer, which provides nationwide news and sharp commentary on politics, business, technology, and media; Cutting, covering style, self, culture, and power; Vulture, the primary website for cultural news, commentary, and services; Strategist dedicated to online shopping; Containing and covering cities and urban life; Grub Street is the birthplace of food news and authoritative restaurant reviews.

The New York magazine, founded by editor Clay Felk and graphic designer Merton Glasser in April 1968, was a great place to read Tom Wolfe, Gloria Steinem, Pete Hamill, Jimmy Breslin, and Gail Shee in its early days. In the following fifty years, it received 49 National Magazine Awards from the American Society of Magazine Editors (ASME), and both Falk and Adam Moss (editor in chief from 2004 to 2019) were inducted into the Magazine Editing Hall of Fame. In 2016, New York won the George Polk Award for its cover story about women accused of sexual assault by Bill Cosby, and in 2018, art critic Jerry Saltz won the magazine's first Pulitzer Prize. New York was named Magazine of the Year in the Adweek hot lists of 2016, 2019, and 2022, and editor in chief David Haskell was named Editor of the Year in 2021.

From the beginning, the mature and enthusiastic voice of New York has found a readership far beyond the magazine's eponymous city. In the digital age, the audience is global because readers around the world crave its audio coverage of television, fashion, politics, real estate, food, or increasingly all of the above (plus crossword puzzles). Today, in addition to the six digital vertical markets, New York's news industry also includes flagship audio programs such as Pivot, On With Kara Swisher, pop culture show Into It, and narrative podcast series cover stories, as well as newsletter combinations including daily franchises such as One Great Story and dinners, and regular series such as "I Eat New York for a Year" and "Critics".

From "Saturday Night Fever" (1977) and "Taxi" (1978), to "The Pimp" (2019), to "Creating Anna" (2022) and "Watchman" (2022), New York's award-winning journalism has been adapted into both big and small screens by some of Hollywood's most influential names. Now collaborating with Vox Media Studio, the project in New York spans genres and formats, including TV series, feature films, and documentaries.

Since 2019, New York has been a part of leading modern media company Vox Media, whose product portfolio includes nearly 20 popular and influential editorial attributes, including (in addition to New York brands) Vox, Eater, NowThis, SB Nation, Dodo, and The Verge. Vox Media Podcast Network is one of the largest collections of popular podcasts, covering technology, news, popular culture, emerging trends, and more. Vox Media Studios is an award-winning non fiction production and distribution studio aimed at multiple television and streaming partners.
