Tianjin Agricultural College

Tianjin Agricultural College was founded in 1976. In 2001, with the approval of the Tianjin Municipal Government, Tianjin Urban and Rural Economic School was merged into Tianjin Agricultural College. In 1982, it was awarded the right to confer bachelor's degrees, and in 2006, it was awarded the right to confer master's degrees. In 1996, it was the first batch to pass the National Education Commission's undergraduate teaching qualification evaluation, and in 2007, it was awarded "excellent" in the undergraduate teaching level evaluation conducted by the Ministry of Education. The school is based on agricultural science, and agronomy, engineering, management, science, economics, literature, and art are developed in a coordinated manner. After years of school-running practice, it has formed a distinctive school-running feature that is closely connected with regional economic and social development and serves modern urban agriculture.

The school currently has three campuses, with a campus area of ​​1,292 acres and a school building area of ​​380,000 square meters. It has modern teaching buildings, laboratory buildings, libraries, network centers, sports stadiums and other facilities. There are currently 14,000 students.

The school takes discipline construction as the leader and improving the quality of talent training as the center, and vigorously implements the development strategy of "quality-based school, talent-based school, characteristic-based school, and culture-based school". There are 15 colleges (departments), 7 disciplines, and 47 undergraduate majors; there are 9 first-level academic master's degree authorization points and 4 master's professional degree authorization points. In 2017, it was approved as a doctoral degree authorization unit in Tianjin from 2017 to 2020. The three first-level disciplines of crop science, veterinary medicine and aquatic products are doctoral degree authorization construction disciplines. There is 1 Tianjin first-class discipline, 4 Tianjin key disciplines, 5 Tianjin characteristic disciplines, and 1 national off-campus practical education base for college students. There are 4 national first-class undergraduate major construction points and 11 provincial first-class undergraduate major construction points; there are 2 national first-class undergraduate courses, 7 Tianjin-level boutique courses, and 7 Tianjin-level brand majors. In the past two teaching achievement awards, the school won 13 Tianjin teaching achievement awards, including 5 first prizes and 8 second prizes.

The school actively adapts to the needs of regional economic and social development and the development of modern urban agriculture, reasonably adjusts the curriculum system, and gradually forms a relatively reasonable professional ecological group to support the development of modern agriculture; under the background of popular education, it is rooted in the land of Tianjin and insists on the path of combining production, learning and research. In recent years, the employment rate of graduates has been above 90%, which is at the leading level among similar colleges in the city. The simple, down-to-earth, hard-working and hardworking character of Tiannong graduates has been recognized by the society, and "going down, getting started quickly, being useful and staying" has become the consensus of employers for Tiannong students. The school has students at home and abroad. Since its establishment, it has sent more than 60,000 graduates of all levels and types to the society, and a large number of well-known agricultural science and technology talents, education experts, excellent management experts and leading cadres at home and abroad have emerged.

As a public publication, the Journal of Tianjin Agricultural College has been rated as a national excellent agricultural journal and a first-level journal in Tianjin for many times, and has been listed as an important source of agricultural journals by many databases at home and abroad.
