Chongqing Three Gorges University

Chongqing Three Gorges University was founded in 1956 and is now located in Wanzhou District, Chongqing, a thousand-year-old ancient city and the capital of immigrants. It is the only comprehensive applied undergraduate college in the hinterland of the Three Gorges Reservoir (school code 10643). In 2013, it was approved by the State Council Academic Degrees Committee as a master's degree awarding institution. In 2021, it was approved by the Chongqing Academic Degrees Committee as a doctoral degree awarding institution for project construction. After more than 60 years of development, the school has become the first undergraduate college in Chongqing to advocate the "green education concept" and promote the "integration of green education and industry". It has now formed a discipline and professional system with engineering, literature, and management as the main disciplines, and coordinated development of disciplines such as science, agriculture, economics, education, law, and art. It focuses on undergraduate education, and coordinates the development of graduate education and adult education. The school is a national smart campus construction pilot unit, a member unit of the "Double Hundred Plan" of Sino-US applied technology education, a demonstration unit of Chongqing education informatization, and an experimental school for the reform and development of aesthetic education in Chongqing universities.

The school covers an area of ​​3,039 acres, with a building area of ​​726,400 square meters, a total value of 289 million yuan for teaching and scientific research equipment, 1.9673 million paper books in the library, and 1.7825 million electronic books. A complete modern electronic book system and information network service system have been built.

The school currently has 18 secondary colleges, with more than 20,000 full-time undergraduate and above students, including 1,227 master's students. There are 62 undergraduate majors, 5 first-level master's degree authorization points (Chinese language and literature, environmental science and engineering, electronic science and technology, agricultural and forestry economic management, mathematics), and 8 professional degree master's degree authorization points (Master of Education, Master of Agriculture, Master of Civil Engineering and Water Conservancy, Master of Tourism Management, Master of Journalism and Communication, Master of Electronic Information, Master of Resources and Environment, Master of Public Administration). There are 7 municipal key disciplines of Chongqing Higher Education Institutions in the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, namely Chinese language and literature, electronic science and technology, environmental science and engineering, agriculture, education, civil engineering and water conservancy, and tourism management.

The school currently has 1,412 faculty and staff, including 1,071 full-time teachers. Among the full-time teachers, 427 have senior professional and technical positions, including 145 senior professional and technical positions, 910 have master's degrees or above, and 219 have doctoral degrees. It has established a national expert service base of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, a Chongqing-level academician expert workstation, and a postdoctoral research workstation. The school has won six provincial and ministerial-level outstanding teaching achievement awards in the past two terms. There are 1 national specialty, 2 first-class specialties, 1 provincial and ministerial specialty discipline group, 21 provincial and ministerial specialty specialties and first-class specialties, 6 provincial and ministerial teaching teams, 43 provincial and ministerial first-class courses, ideological and political demonstration courses, quality courses, quality resource sharing courses, quality video open courses, etc.; 4 provincial and ministerial experimental teaching demonstration centers, 4 virtual simulation experimental projects; 1 new engineering research and practice project of the Ministry of Education, 2 provincial and ministerial pilot projects for deepening comprehensive reform in the field of education; 96 provincial and ministerial education reform projects have been undertaken in the past five years. In the past five years, students have won more than 2,000 awards at the provincial and ministerial level or above in competitions such as the China "Internet +" College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, the "Challenge Cup" College Student Extracurricular Academic and Scientific Works Competition, the "Chuang Qingchun" College Student Entrepreneurship Plan Competition, and the National College Student Electronic Design Competition, including more than 500 national awards. The school won 34 provincial and ministerial awards at or above the National College Students Mathematical Modeling Competition; won the special prize of the China TRIZ Cup College Students Innovation Method Competition; won the first prize of the National College Students Engineering Training Comprehensive Ability Competition for two consecutive sessions; won the China College Students Computer Game Competition for 10 consecutive championships, and the Chongqing College Students Wushu Competition Team for 13 consecutive championships; the Tchougu Ball Team represented China in the third East Asian Tchougu Ball Competition, and both the men's and women's teams won the first place.

The school closely focuses on the needs of national and local economic and social development, and strengthens scientific and technological innovation and achievement transformation. In the past five years, it has won 31 provincial (ministerial) and above awards for outstanding scientific research achievements, including one "Five One Project Award" for the 15th Spiritual Civilization Construction of the Central Propaganda Department. There are 29 scientific research platforms such as provincial and ministerial key laboratories and engineering technology centers, including 4 provincial and ministerial key laboratories; more than 600 horizontal projects entrusted by government departments, enterprises and institutions have been undertaken; 549 national and provincial and ministerial scientific research projects have been approved, 12 provincial and ministerial innovation teams (innovation research groups) have been approved, and more than 1,000 national authorized patents have been obtained, including more than 140 invention patents; more than 200 academic works have been published; 4,652 academic papers have been published, 1,294 papers have been published in Peking University core and above journals, 565 papers have been included in the three major retrieval systems, 336 CSSCI source journal articles, and 326 CSCD source journal articles.

The school actively carries out international exchanges and cooperation, and has established cooperative relationships such as joint schooling, mutual dispatch of teachers, visiting scholars and academic exchanges with many foreign universities such as the United States and the United Kingdom, many foreign companies and research institutions such as Germany's BSK and Indonesia's International Daily, and many domestic universities such as Southeast University, Shandong University, and Beijing Institute of Technology; and has established strategic cooperative relationships with departments and local governments in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and enterprises (institutions) such as ZTE, Inspur, and Ruijie in talent training, professional construction, internship practice, innovation and entrepreneurship.
