With a profound cultural heritage and a long history of teaching, Chongqing Normal University was founded in 1954. It is a full-time comprehensive undergraduate college run by the Chongqing Municipal People's Government. It is one of the important bases for teacher education in the western region. Its history of running schools can be traced back to the official Sichuan East Normal School in 1906.
