Tianjin University

Tianjin University (Tianjin University), referred to as Tianda, was formerly known as Beiyang University. It was founded on October 2, 1895. It is the first modern university in China and pioneered China's modern higher education. After the failure of the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895, the school was founded in Tianjin under the imperial seal of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty, with Sheng Xuanhuai as the first supervisor.
