The operation of the National Watermelon Promotion Committee (NWPB) has only one goal: to increase demand for watermelons through promotion, research, and education. The non-profit organization headquartered in Orlando was founded in 1989, consisting of watermelon growers and transporters. Today, NWPB represents the growers, transporters, and importers of watermelons in the United States. These members support the organization through statutory contributions. The NWPB board of directors is composed of watermelon producers, operators, importers, and a member representing the public, and decides how to allocate the budget to board projects.
