Shanghai Economic Management Cadre College is an independent adult higher education institution approved by the national education authority, under the dual leadership of Shanghai State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission and Shanghai Municipal Education Commission. While undertaking the important task of training senior management talents for state-owned and private enterprises, the college also undertakes the important task of adult higher education. Over the past 20 years, the college has trained more than 300,000 managers of various types of enterprises and cultivated a large number of college students. It is known as the "cradle of entrepreneurs". The college is located on Meilong Road in the southwest of Shanghai, where many colleges and universities are located. The campus environment is quiet and shady with green trees. A newly built teaching and training building has sprung up, and it has advanced teaching and experimental facilities, providing solid material conditions to meet the teaching needs of the new century.

The school is located in Xuhui District, Shanghai. The campus is evergreen with flowers and trees, green grass, fresh air and quiet environment. It has advanced teaching and living facilities such as teaching buildings with central air conditioning, academic exchange halls, lecture halls, campus information networks, libraries, computing centers, audio-visual education centers, network centers, simulation negotiation rooms, computer network laboratories, management simulation centers, and foreign expert buildings. In recent years, the college has invested tens of millions of yuan to renovate teaching facilities, build campus networks, expand multimedia voice rooms and a number of multimedia classrooms, and provide solid material conditions and foundations to meet the teaching needs of the new century. The college also has a teaching staff with a full range of management disciplines and rich teaching and training experience.

In September 1999, the State Education Commission approved the first batch of ordinary colleges and universities to recruit fresh graduates from three schools to hold ordinary higher vocational classes. The college has five majors: "Business Management", "Office Automation", "Computer Networks and Communications", "Business Japanese", and "Business English".

Our college attaches great importance to the second-class education of higher vocational students. We offer intensive review courses in College English Test Band 4 and Computer Application Ability Test, so that students can have a variety of socially recognized professional certificates and qualification certificates upon graduation. Our college also attaches great importance to the moral quality education of young students and the development of party members. We have implemented a student scholarship system. The graduation rate in 2001 reached over 90%.
