Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University is one of the three high-level universities that Fujian Province focuses on building. It is a university jointly built by the Ministry of Agriculture, the State Forestry Administration and the Fujian Provincial Government. It is one of the first batch of master's degree awarding institutions and the second batch of doctoral degree awarding institutions in the country. It is an excellent university in the undergraduate teaching work level assessment of the Ministry of Education and a first batch of undergraduate enrollment universities in Fujian Province.

Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University is located in Fuzhou, the gateway to the Maritime Silk Road and the first coastal port city to open to the outside world. It is a provincial key university with agricultural and forestry disciplines as its advantages and characteristics, and coordinated development of multiple disciplines such as science, engineering, economics, management, literature, law, and art. It is a university jointly built by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the State Forestry and Grassland Administration and the Fujian Provincial Government, and a first-class university construction university in Fujian Province.

The predecessor of Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University was the Agricultural Science Department of Fujian Union University, which was established in 1936, and the Fujian Provincial Agricultural College, which was established in 1940. In 1952, the two cultural contexts converged to form Fujian Agricultural College. In the autumn of 1958, the provincial party committee and government established Fujian Forestry College based on the Forestry Department of Fujian Agricultural College. In October 2000, the former Fujian Agricultural University and the former Fujian Forestry College merged to form the new Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University.

The school has 19 colleges that mainly train full-time undergraduates and postgraduates and 1 independent college. There are more than 22,000 full-time undergraduates and more than 7,900 postgraduates. There are 65 undergraduate majors (categories), 8 approved pilot majors for outstanding agricultural and forestry talents, 18 national first-class undergraduate major construction sites, 2 national experimental teaching demonstration centers, and 36 national first-class undergraduate courses. The school was selected as one of the first 50 universities for innovation and entrepreneurship by the Ministry of Education and a national university practice education innovation and entrepreneurship base. In the "Challenge Cup" National College Students' Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition and the "Chuang Qingchun" National College Students' Entrepreneurship Competition, it has won the "Champion Cup" seven times.

The school currently has more than 3,000 faculty and staff, more than 1,700 full-time teachers, 1 academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, 1 national outstanding professional and technical talent, 5 members of the State Council's discipline evaluation group, 9 "Changjiang Scholars" of the Ministry of Education, 9 talents in the Ten Thousand Talents Program, 6 winners of the National Outstanding Youth Science Fund, 10 winners of the National Excellent Youth Science Fund, 14 candidates for the National Hundred Thousand Talents Project, 9 experts with outstanding contributions at the national level, 9 candidates for the Ministry of Science and Technology's Innovative Talent Promotion Plan, and 29 people who enjoy special allowances from the State Council. It has 2 national teaching teams, 1 innovation team of the Ministry of Education, 2 innovation teams of the Ministry of Science and Technology's "Innovative Talent Promotion Plan", 2 innovation teams of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and 1 science and technology innovation team of the State Forestry and Grassland Administration. It has been selected as a national innovative talent training demonstration base, and 2 bases have been selected into the national "Higher Education Discipline Innovation and Intelligence Introduction Plan" ("111" plan).

The university currently has 12 first-level doctoral degree authorization points, 1 doctoral professional degree authorization point, 27 first-level master's degree authorization points, 17 master's professional degree authorization points, and 11 postdoctoral research mobile stations. There is 1 national key discipline, 1 national key cultivation discipline, 2 key disciplines of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and 7 key disciplines of the State Forestry and Grassland Administration. In the fourth round of national discipline evaluation, 17 disciplines were included in the list, of which 4 disciplines, plant protection, forestry, ecology and landscape architecture, were in the top 10%-20%. 6 disciplines were selected as peak disciplines in Fujian Province, and 12 disciplines were selected as plateau disciplines in Fujian Province.

The university has 1 national key laboratory co-built by the province and the ministry, 2 national engineering technology research centers, 2 provincial and ministerial 2011 collaborative innovation centers, 2 national and local joint engineering laboratories (research centers), 1 international cooperation joint laboratory of the Ministry of Education, 4 key laboratories of the Ministry of Education (engineering research centers), 1 regional and country research center of the Ministry of Education, 2 key laboratories of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and 5 key laboratories (engineering technology research centers) of the State Forestry and Grassland Administration. Since the 12th Five-Year Plan, the school has hosted more than 5,000 scientific research projects with a research funding of more than 1.5 billion yuan. It has won 6 second prizes in the National Science and Technology Progress Award, including 3 second prizes in the National Science and Technology Progress Award. It has won 215 ministerial and provincial natural science and technology awards and 57 social science outstanding achievement awards, including 140 ministerial and provincial natural science and technology awards. It has deciphered the genomes of diamondback moth, vanilla, pineapple, longan, sugarcane, tetraploid cultivated peanut, and water lily in the world, and for the first time analyzed the molecular mechanism of the primary light response of plant blue light receptors.

The school is the invention unit of Juncao technology. The new varieties of sugarcane, jute, fir, sweet potato, peanut, tea, vegetables, etc. selected and bred, and the practical technical achievements formed have been promoted to cover major production areas across the country. Relying on the New Rural Development Research Institute approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Education, the Rural Revitalization Research Institute was established, and the system of special science and technology commissioners has been continuously deepened. The implementation of the team support plan has built a new model of rural science and technology promotion services that closely integrates production, education, and research to serve the comprehensive revitalization of rural areas in our province.

The school is a "university that accepts Chinese government scholarship students" from the Ministry of Education. There are nearly 150 international students from 39 countries studying for degrees at the school. The school took the lead in conducting separate enrollment for Taiwan, and jointly organized 4 Sino-foreign cooperative education projects with universities such as Dalhousie University in Canada and the University of British Columbia in Canada. It has carried out more than 20 student joint training and exchange programs with well-known universities in the United States, Canada, Germany, Australia and other countries. Students can also apply for the National Scholarship Fund for Innovative Talent Training Projects, Rural Revitalization Projects, International Organization Projects and other funding for public study abroad. The school also co-established a Confucius Institute with Durban University of Technology in South Africa.

The campus of Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University is surrounded by mountains and forests on three sides, with beautiful scenery, birds singing and flowers blooming. The school has been rated as a national civilized unit for three consecutive years. The campus property covers an area of ​​more than 4,500 acres, non-property covers an area of ​​1,200 acres, and there are more than 1,200 acres of scientific and educational bases and more than 55,000 acres of teaching forests, with a total asset value of 4.02 billion yuan. The library has a collection of 3.09 million paper books (including bound journals). It has 3.4 million electronic books (including electronic journals).
