Zhejiang Agricultural and Forestry University

Zhejiang Agriculture and Forestry University is located in Lin'an District, Hangzhou, and the western end of the Hangzhou West Science and Technology Innovation Corridor. It is a key university in Zhejiang Province and a university jointly built by the Zhejiang Provincial People's Government and the State Forestry and Grassland Administration. The school was founded in 1958 and was then called Tianmu Forestry College. It was renamed Zhejiang Forestry College in 1966 and Zhejiang Agriculture and Forestry University in 2010. After more than 60 years of construction, the school has developed into a multidisciplinary university with agriculture, forestry, biology, and environmental disciplines as its characteristics, covering eight major disciplines, and has established a complete undergraduate, master, and doctoral talent training and degree authorization system.

The school currently has three campuses in Donghu, Yijin, and Zhuji, covering an area of ​​more than 3,200 acres, with a school building area of ​​more than 900,000 square meters, and a total value of instruments and equipment of 493 million yuan. There is currently 1 Zhejiang Province Key Construction University Advantage and Characteristic Discipline, 3 Zhejiang Province First-class Disciplines (Class A), 9 Zhejiang Province First-class Disciplines (Class B); 5 National Forestry and Grassland Administration Key Disciplines and Key Cultivation Disciplines. It has a first-level discipline postdoctoral research mobile station in forestry; 6 first-level discipline doctoral degree authorization points; 19 first-level discipline master's degree authorization points, and 16 professional degree master authorization categories. It has 5 national innovation platforms, including the National Key Laboratory, the National Engineering Technology Research Center, the National and Local Joint Engineering Laboratory, the National Cultural Communication Base, and the National "111 Plan" Intelligence Base, as well as 45 provincial and ministerial innovation platforms.

The school enrolls students from 31 provinces (municipalities, autonomous regions), and currently has 15,966 full-time undergraduates, 4,069 graduate students, 781 international students, and nearly 2,100 faculty and staff. In recent years, the school has won two second prizes for national teaching achievements and nine first prizes for provincial outstanding teaching achievements. It has 9 national first-class undergraduate courses, 107 provincial first-class undergraduate courses, 27 provincial quality courses, 15 provincial ideological and political demonstration courses, 9 provincial virtual simulations, and 31 provincial virtual simulation projects; it has built a national experimental teaching demonstration center and a Zhejiang talent training model innovation experimental zone. In the past five years, students have won more than 2,900 provincial and ministerial awards in various subject competitions, including 1 national gold medal and 3 silver medals in the China "Internet +" College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. The school actively promotes innovation and entrepreneurship education, and a group of outstanding student models such as "National Advanced Individuals in Employment and Entrepreneurship" and "China University Students Self-improvement Star" have emerged.

The school won 1 second prize in the National Technological Invention Award, 8 second prizes in the National Science and Technology Progress Award, 1 third prize in the National Science and Technology Progress Award, 11 first prizes in Zhejiang Science and Technology, and 4 first prizes in the Provincial Philosophy and Social Science Outstanding Achievement Award. The school has carried out various forms of science and technology promotion and social services with more than 50 counties and cities in Zhejiang, Fujian, Jiangxi, Jiangsu, Anhui, Guizhou, Sichuan and other provinces. The school has been rated as an advanced unit for paired assistance work in Zhejiang Province for three consecutive times, and won the 2021 Paired Assistance Assessment Excellent Unit. It has been rated as an advanced dispatching unit for science and technology commissioners in Zhejiang Province for 14 consecutive times. In 2009, it was rated as an advanced collective for national science and technology commissioners. In 2013, it was approved as a national-level science and technology commissioner entrepreneurship training base. In 2014, it was rated as a "national advanced collective for social poverty alleviation" by the State Council Poverty Alleviation Office, and the dried fruit science and technology commissioner team was listed as the "most beautiful science and technology personnel" by the Central Propaganda Department.

The school adheres to the principle of open education and actively carries out international exchanges and cooperation. It has signed cooperation agreements with more than 100 universities and research institutions in 27 countries (regions) including the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Russia, Ukraine, Poland, and Australia, and carried out academic exchanges, joint school-running, scientific research and other activities. It has co-built a Confucius Institute with the University of Novi Sad in Serbia, and cooperated with the University of British Columbia in Canada to organize Sino-foreign cooperative education projects. It has jointly trained talents with the Warsaw University of Life Sciences and the University of Helsinki, and cooperated with the Russian State Agricultural University and St. Petersburg University, the Ukrainian University of Life Sciences and the Sumy State Agricultural University to carry out the CSC-sponsored study abroad program, and its international influence has gradually increased.

The school attaches great importance to the construction of ecological culture. The modern ecological campus of "two parks (campus and botanical garden) in one" is praised as "a bright business card for the construction of college campuses in Zhejiang Province" and "a good place to study and learn", and has been awarded the "National Ecological Civilization Education Base" by the Ministry of Education, the State Forestry and Grassland Administration and other units.
