Founded in 1958, Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine is one of the earliest higher traditional Chinese medicine colleges in my country. It has been selected as a key university in Fujian Province twice and is a "first-class university" construction university in Fujian Province.

The school has 13 colleges (departments) and 2 research institutes; there are 2 first-level disciplines authorized to confer doctoral degrees, such as Chinese medicine and integrated Chinese and Western medicine; there are 7 first-level disciplines authorized to confer master's degrees, such as Chinese medicine, integrated Chinese and Western medicine, clinical medicine, pharmacy, Chinese medicine, nursing, and medical technology; there are 4 master's professional degree categories, such as Chinese medicine, Chinese medicine, pharmacy, and nursing; there are 2 postdoctoral research mobile stations, such as Chinese medicine and integrated Chinese and Western medicine; there are 20 undergraduate majors, such as Chinese medicine, Chinese orthopedics, acupuncture and massage, clinical medicine of Chinese and Western medicine, clinical medicine, pharmacy, Chinese medicine, drug preparation, pharmaceutical engineering, marketing, nursing, public utilities management, medical imaging technology, food science and engineering, rehabilitation therapy, information management and information system, health service and management, hearing and speech rehabilitation, rehabilitation physical therapy, and rehabilitation occupational therapy. There are more than 12,000 full-time students, including more than 2,400 graduate students.

The university has nearly 6,000 teaching and medical staff (including 4 directly affiliated hospitals), including about 1,000 professional and technical personnel with senior titles; 1 academician of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences, 1 national master of traditional Chinese medicine, 3 national famous Chinese medicine practitioners, 2 Qihuang scholars of the National TCM Inheritance and Innovation "Hundreds of Millions" Talent Project (Qihuang Project), 2 winners of the "National Outstanding Contribution Award for Traditional Chinese Medicine", 6 members of the Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education (including 1 deputy director of the Teaching Steering Committee of Traditional Chinese Medicine and 1 deputy director of the Teaching Steering Committee of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine); a group of national candidates of the "Hundreds of Millions" Talent Project, young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions from the state and the Ministry of Health, experts with special allowances from the State Council, instructors of national famous old Chinese medicine academic successors, 100 outstanding young Chinese medicine practitioners in the country, and national outstanding teachers.

In 2002 and 2007, the university was awarded "excellent" in the undergraduate teaching level evaluation organized by the Ministry of Education twice. In December 2010, Traditional Chinese Medicine passed the pilot professional certification of the Ministry of Education. In 2016, the school successfully passed the undergraduate teaching review and evaluation, and rehabilitation physical therapy (PT) and rehabilitation occupational therapy (OT) passed the international education standard certification of the World Confederation of Physical Therapy (WCPT) and the World Federation of Occupational Therapy (WFOT) respectively. In May 2017, Chinese Medicine passed the professional certification of the Ministry of Education. In March 2019, Nursing passed the professional certification of the Ministry of Education. The university has 20 key disciplines of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, two Fujian Province A-level peak disciplines of integrated Chinese and Western medicine and traditional Chinese medicine, three Fujian Province plateau disciplines of traditional Chinese medicine, nursing and pharmacy, and two Fujian Province applied disciplines of clinical medicine and management. The discipline of clinical medicine has entered the top 1% of the ESI global ranking. There are 2 National Development and Reform Commission National Local Joint Engineering Research Centers, 1 Ministry of Education Key Laboratory, 1 Ministry of Education Provincial Co-construction Collaborative Innovation Center, 1 State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine Rehabilitation Research Center, 3 State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine Key Research Rooms, 8 National (bureau-level) third-level scientific research laboratories, 1 State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine Traditional Chinese Medicine Literature Retrieval Center, 4 provincial "2011 Collaborative Innovation Centers", 6 provincial key laboratories, 1 provincial engineering research center, 2 provincial big data research institutes, 18 provincial key laboratories, bases and engineering technology research centers. 743 scientific research results have been awarded at the national, provincial and municipal levels, including 1 second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award and 1 second prize of the Ministry of Education Science and Technology Progress Award (Popular Science). The school has 4 directly affiliated hospitals, of which the Affiliated People's Hospital is a national clinical research base for traditional Chinese medicine, the Affiliated Second People's Hospital is a key traditional Chinese medicine hospital for the National Traditional Chinese Medicine Inheritance and Innovation Project, the Affiliated Third People's Hospital is a national high-level talent training base for traditional Chinese medicine, and the Affiliated Rehabilitation Hospital is the first rehabilitation hospital in China certified by the International Rehabilitation Quality Certification Committee (CARF); there are 11 non-directly affiliated hospitals, 10 clinical medical schools, and more than 100 teaching and graduation internship bases of various types. There are 8 national clinical key specialties such as rehabilitation, anorectal, spleen and stomach, and surgery, and 17 key specialties and special diseases of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Pingshan Campus has established the National Medical Hall Hospital to provide services to the society.

The school has two campuses, covering a total area of ​​1,030 acres, with a total building area of ​​more than 340,000 square meters, teaching and scientific research equipment worth more than 400 million yuan, more than 1.38 million paper books, and 1.01 million electronic books. The school has excellent facilities, equipped with modern teaching, scientific research, administrative, and living facilities, and has built a humanistic landscape rich in the culture of traditional Chinese medicine. It is a campus with a beautiful environment and rich culture. It has been awarded the honorary titles of "National Advanced Unit for Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture Construction", "National Model Unit for Greening", and "National Advanced School for Civilized Campuses". It has been awarded the honorary title of "Civilized School" by the Fujian Provincial Party Committee and the Fujian Provincial People's Government for seven consecutive times, and has been awarded the honorary title of "Civilized Campus" in Fujian Province for two consecutive terms. It promotes the construction of an energy-saving campus and has been identified as the first batch of "Energy-Saving Public Institution Demonstration Units" in the country. The school is the first Chinese medicine school in the mainland to recruit students from Taiwan, and it is also one of the earliest Chinese medicine schools to recruit foreign students. It has formed a multi-level, multi-standard, and multi-form education pattern for Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao, including doctoral, master's, bachelor's, and short-term training. There are nearly 400 overseas students of various types in the school. Alumni in the United States, Australia, Southeast Asia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao have become the backbone of the local Chinese medicine community; the school took the lead in building the only overseas Chinese medicine center in Fujian Province-the "China-Philippines Chinese Medicine Center", and has successively held the 12th Cross-Strait Chinese Medicine Academic Seminar, the 12th "Cross-Strait Youth Festival? Traditional Chinese Medicine Study Camp", etc., and established exchanges and cooperation with colleges and universities, scientific research and medical institutions, and academic groups in countries and regions such as the United States, Germany, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Australia, South Korea, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Latin America, and Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao.
