Wuhan Textile University

Wuhan Textile University is one of the first batch of universities in the country to be included in the "Basic Capacity Construction Project for Colleges and Universities in Central and Western China", a university implementing the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program" of the Ministry of Education, a university in the construction of "Domestic First-Class Disciplines" in Hubei Province, and one of the top ten fashion schools in China. The school came into being in response to the call for the revitalization of the national light industry in New China. Its predecessor was Wuhan Textile Institute of Technology, which was founded in 1958. In 1999, it was renamed Wuhan Institute of Science and Technology. Hubei Foreign Trade School and Hubei Finance and Economics College were successively incorporated. In 2010, it was renamed Wuhan Textile University.

The school adheres to the socialist direction of running schools, fully implements the party's education policy, and carries out independent school-running and modern university system construction in accordance with the "Constitution of Wuhan Textile University". The school adheres to the discipline construction idea of ​​"one leading, multiple advancement, highlighting characteristics, and coordinated development" to build a good academic ecology. There are 18 colleges (departments), covering 7 disciplines including science, engineering, literature, law, economics, management, and art, with 15 first-level disciplines authorized to confer master's degrees and 9 master's professional degree authorization categories. There are 8 first-level key disciplines in Hubei Province and 5 provincial advantageous and characteristic disciplines. The three subject groups of "Advanced Manufacturing and Textile Equipment", "Creative Design and Exquisite Manufacturing" and "Big Data and Smart Management" are included in the key construction of the superior and characteristic subject groups of provincial universities in Hubei Province during the "14th Five-Year Plan". Textile Science and Engineering is selected as the "Domestic First-Class Discipline Construction Discipline" in Hubei Province. The three disciplines of Materials Science, Chemistry and Engineering are among the top 1% in the ESI global ranking.

The school implements the leading talent introduction and cultivation project to create a team of "four-good" teachers with ideals, moral sentiments, solid knowledge and benevolence. There are more than 2,000 faculty and staff, more than 1,400 full-time teachers, including more than 800 teachers with senior professional titles and more than 800 doctors. One academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and one academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences have been independently cultivated, and 7 academicians and foreign academicians have worked in the school for a long time; more than 10 national talents and more than 200 provincial talents of various types. The school is the first batch of "Hubei Overseas High-level Talent Innovation and Entrepreneurship Base" and has a group of "Sunshine Scholars" with overseas study backgrounds.

The school implements the fundamental task of cultivating people with moral integrity, implements the action plan for improving talent training capabilities, improves the "five-pronged education" education pattern, builds an "output-oriented" talent training system, vigorously carries out the construction of "new engineering and new liberal arts", vigorously implements innovation and entrepreneurship education, and strives to cultivate applied innovative talents with comprehensive development of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics and labor. The school currently has more than 20,000 full-time students at all levels and types. There are 67 undergraduate majors, including 4 national characteristic majors, 11 national first-class professional construction sites, 2 majors certified by the Ministry of Education for engineering education, 8 majors in the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program", 7 Hubei Provincial Brand Majors, and 16 provincial first-class professional construction sites. The school has a national teaching team and a national talent training model reform experimental zone, 2 national first-class undergraduate courses, 6 national boutique open courses, 1 new engineering research and practice project of the Ministry of Education, and 2 new liberal arts research and reform practice projects. In recent years, it has won 7 first prizes for provincial and ministerial teaching achievements.

It has successively undertaken more than 200 national and provincial and ministerial scientific research projects such as national fund projects and national key R&D plans. A number of scientific research results have reached the international and domestic advanced level, and have distinct characteristics and advantages in the fields of textiles, printing and dyeing, clothing and art design. In recent years, the school has won 1 first prize and 3 second prizes in the National Science and Technology Progress Award, and 2 second prizes in the National Technological Invention Award. The school pays attention to the transformation of results and has been included in the "China University Patent Transfer Ranking (TOP100)" for many consecutive years. The registration amount of technical service contracts ranks among the top universities in the province. A number of school-local and school-enterprise cooperation projects have been implemented in more than 10 provinces, which have produced significant economic and social benefits.

The school vigorously strengthens international exchanges and cooperation and actively promotes the internationalization of education. The school is a commissioned training unit of the Chinese government scholarship and the first member of the "European Textile University Alliance" in mainland China. The school has the first Sino-foreign humanities exchange research institute of the Ministry of Education, and the first undergraduate Sino-foreign cooperative education institution in Hubei Province. The school has carried out undergraduate cooperative education projects with the University of Manchester in the UK and Bunka Gakuen University in Japan, and jointly trained doctoral students with relevant universities in Australia, the United States, Russia, the Czech Republic and other countries.
