Nanjing Forestry University

Nanjing Forestry University is located at the foot of the scenic Zijin Mountain and the shore of the rippling Xuanwu Lake. It is a provincial key university jointly built by the central and local governments and one of the first batch of "double first-class" universities in the country. The school was formerly the Forestry Department of Central University (founded in 1902) and the Forestry Department of Jinling University (founded in 1910). The Nanjing Forestry College, which was merged in 1952, was one of the only three higher forestry colleges in the country at that time. In 1955, the Forestry Department of Huazhong Agricultural College (formed by the merger of the Forestry Departments of Wuhan University, Nanchang University and Hubei Agricultural College) was incorporated. In 1972, it was renamed Nanjing Forestry Industry College. In 1983, the name of Nanjing Forestry College was restored, and in 1985 it was renamed Nanjing Forestry University.

The school recruits students nationwide. There are currently 70 undergraduate majors set up and enrolling students, including 21 national first-class undergraduate major construction sites, 6 national characteristic major construction sites, 28 provincial first-class undergraduate major construction sites, and 18 provincial brand characteristic majors. In 2010, one doctoral dissertation was selected as one of the top 100 excellent doctoral dissertations in the country. Focusing on national strategies such as ecological civilization construction, carbon peak and carbon neutrality, and rural revitalization, as well as the requirements for the construction of a "strong, prosperous, beautiful and high-quality" new Jiangsu, the school actively carries out policy theory research and decision-making consulting services. The school implements an international development strategy and actively carries out open education and foreign exchanges and cooperation. It has established long-term academic research, teacher training and talent exchange and cooperation with more than 100 universities and scientific research institutions in more than 20 countries including the United States, Germany, Canada, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Russia, Japan, France, Italy, Finland, Iran, etc. Up to now, there are 64 long-term foreign experts employed by our school, about 200 teachers go abroad for exchanges every year, and about 300 foreign experts come to the school for exchanges, scientific research cooperation, and lectures.
