Wuhan University of Light Industry was founded in 1951 and is located in Wuhan, Hubei Province, which is known as the "crossroads of nine provinces". It is the earliest school in the country to train specialized talents in the grain industry. It was successively affiliated to the former Ministry of Grain, Ministry of Commerce, and Ministry of Domestic Trade. In 1998, it implemented a management system jointly built by the central and local governments and mainly managed by Hubei Province. It is a university jointly built by the State Administration of Grain and Material Reserves and the People's Government of Hubei Province, a domestic first-class discipline construction university in Hubei Province, and the first batch of undergraduate enrollment universities in Hubei Province. The school currently has two campuses, Changqing and Jinyinhu, covering an area of ​​1 million square meters; there are 17 teaching colleges (departments), including the International Education College and the Continuing Education College; there are more than 20,000 full-time undergraduate and graduate students; the school building area is 600,000 square meters; the total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is 368 million yuan; the library has a collection of more than 1.77 million paper documents, 53 databases, and more than 1.87 million electronic books. It is a research-level document collection unit in Hubei Province and an excellent library with automation level in Hubei Province.
