Hubei University of Science and Technology is a general undergraduate college in Hubei Province, an "excellent" university in the undergraduate teaching work level assessment of the Ministry of Education, one of the top 100 demonstration universities for industry-education integration in China, one of the first batch of pilot universities for the National Excellent Doctor Education and Training Program, and a pilot university for transformation and development in Hubei Province.

The school is located in Xianning City, Hubei Province. It currently has two campuses, Wenquan and Xianning, with a total campus area of ​​1,861 acres and a school building area of ​​630,000 square meters. The school has a long history of running schools and a profound cultural heritage. The history of the school can be traced back to the Puqi Simple Normal School founded in 1937 and the Xianning Branch of Hubei Medical College founded in 1965. After inheritance and evolution, Xianning Medical College and Xianning Normal College merged to form Xianning College in 2002, and was renamed Hubei University of Science and Technology in 2012. The school started higher education in 1965, undergraduate education in 1977, joint postgraduate education in 1995, and was approved as a professional degree postgraduate training unit for the "National Special Needs Talent Training Project" in 2011, and independently carried out postgraduate education.
