Huanggang Normal University (Huanggang Normal College), referred to as "Huanggang Normal College", is located in Huanggang City, Hubei Province. It is a provincial full-time multi-disciplinary general undergraduate college covering nine major disciplines including science, engineering, agriculture, economics, literature, law, education, management, and art. It has the right to confer master's degrees.

Huanggang Normal University is located in Huanggang City, Hubei Province, a cultural and cultural town and a national livable city that connects the capital Wuhan and the rivers and seas. It is a full-time general undergraduate college organized by the People's Government of Hubei Province and the first higher education institution in Huanggang City with a population of 7.5 million.

The predecessor of the school was the "Huangzhou Prefecture Normal School" founded in 1905. It has undergone changes such as "Provincial Huanggang Rural Normal School", "Hubei Provincial Huanggang Normal School" and "Huanggang Normal College". In March 1999, it was upgraded to the undergraduate level "Huanggang Normal College" with the approval of the Ministry of Education. In October 2011, the State Council Academic Degrees Committee approved the school to independently carry out postgraduate education for master's degree in education. After more than a hundred years of hard work, the school has now developed into a multidisciplinary university involving 11 major disciplines including science, engineering, agriculture, economics, literature, history, law, education, management, art, and medicine. It has two levels of education, master's degree and undergraduate degree, and a relatively complete professional system. It has 20 teaching colleges and 70 undergraduate majors. The school currently has a campus area of ​​2,002 acres, enrolling students from 27 provinces and cities across the country, with 19,750 full-time students.

The school vigorously implements the strategy of strengthening the school with talents and strives to promote the "100 Doctor Introduction Project". There are 1,182 full-time teachers, including 138 senior professors, 372 associate professors, 407 doctors, and 584 masters; there are more than 100 national and provincial honorary experts. The school also hired more than 100 well-known scholars, professors, and doctoral supervisors from key universities such as Peking University and Tsinghua University as part-time professors.

The school's teaching reform and quality engineering are steadily advancing. There is currently 1 national experimental teaching demonstration center, 4 national first-class professional construction sites, 2 second-level certification majors for normal education by the Ministry of Education, 3 characteristic professional construction sites of the Ministry of Education, 1 designated teaching reform pilot major by the Ministry of Education, 1 first batch of undergraduate professional comprehensive reform pilot projects of local universities of the Ministry of Education, 1 new agricultural science research and reform practice project of the Ministry of Education, and 132 collaborative education projects of the Ministry of Education. 28 provincial and above teaching achievement awards, 1 provincial pilot college, 19 provincial first-class professional construction sites, 4 provincial brand majors, 11 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers, 12 provincial teaching teams, 12 provincial excellent grassroots teaching organizations, 6 provincial emerging (pillar) industry talent training plan projects, 5 provincial professional comprehensive reform pilot projects, 6 provincial Jingchu Excellence Plan projects, 53 provincial first-class courses, quality courses, etc., and 113 provincial teaching research projects.

The quality of talent training in the school has been continuously improved. Students have won the first and second prizes in the International Mathematical Modeling Contest for College Students (MCM/ICM) from 2011 to 2014, and have won national awards in the "National Mathematical Modeling Contest for College Students" for 10 consecutive years (including the first prize for 8 consecutive years). In the "China's 'Internet +' College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition" in 2015 and 2017, they won the silver and bronze medals respectively. They have achieved excellent results in important competitions such as the National College Students' "Challenge Cup" Competition, Electronic Design Competition, "CCTV Cup" Foreign Language Competition, "National Campus DV" Photography Exhibition, "Chuang Qingchun" College Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, and "Tian Jiabing Cup" National Normal Colleges Normal Students Teaching Skills Competition.

Since 2006, the school has jointly trained graduate students with Wuhan University of Technology, Hubei University, Shanghai Normal University, Yangtze University, Central China Normal University, Wuhan University, Huazhong Agricultural University, Wuhan University of Technology, and Huazhong University of Science and Technology. Since 2012, the university has started to independently train graduate students for master of education. Currently, it has 10 teaching colleges and 11 fields to recruit master of education students nationwide. It has trained 405 master students. There are 212 master of education tutors, including 15 national outstanding teachers for master of education, 3 national outstanding teaching management workers for master of education, and 187 industry tutors. Currently, there is 1 national joint training demonstration base for master of education students and 7 Hubei provincial graduate workstations. The quality of master of education training has been steadily improved, and it has won more than 50 awards such as the National Full-time Master of Education Professional Teaching Skills Competition and the National Graduate Mathematical Modeling Competition. More than half of the students have won provincial and municipal teaching skills competition awards.

The school's scientific research and social services are promoted in a coordinated manner. There is currently one national base for the inheritance of China's excellent traditional culture in ordinary colleges and universities, one Hubei Zhongke Industrial Technology Research Institute, one Hubei Steel Structure R&D and Testing Sharing Platform, three Hubei Provincial Advantageous and Characteristic Disciplines (Groups) in the "14th Five-Year Plan" (including one cultivation discipline (group)), and five Hubei Provincial Key Disciplines and Provincial Key Cultivation Disciplines; two Hubei Provincial Key Laboratories, one Hubei Provincial Collaborative Innovation Center, four Hubei Provincial Key Research Bases for Humanities and Social Sciences, five Hubei Provincial School-Enterprise Joint Innovation Centers, and one Hubei Intangible Cultural Heritage Research Center; there are more than 20 on-campus research institutions such as the Li Shizhen Great Health Industry Research Institute and the Dabie Mountain Rural Revitalization Research Institute.

In recent years, the school has successively hosted 36 National Natural Science Foundation projects, 30 National Social Science Foundation projects, participated in 6 national "863" and "973" and national science and technology research projects, hosted more than 70 projects from the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Culture, the State General Administration of Sports, and the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, and more than 230 Hubei Provincial Self-Science Foundation and Social Science Foundation projects. The school has won 75 awards at the provincial and ministerial levels and above (including) for its scientific research and teaching achievements, and has obtained nearly 430 invention patents and utility model patents.

The school has extensive international exchanges and is a member of the China Education International Exchange Association. It has established exchanges and cooperation with universities and institutions in more than 50 countries and regions, including the United States and the United Kingdom. More than 300 foreign experts and scholars have been hired to teach and give lectures at the school; more than 310 academic backbones have been sent to foreign universities and scientific research institutions for training, cooperation and exchanges; nearly 200 teachers and students have been selected to go abroad to carry out international Chinese education. In 2010, the school established the School of International Education to carry out international cooperative education, and has successively carried out 5 Sino-foreign cooperative education projects; in 2018, it cooperated with Vyatka State University in Russia to hold a "1+3" joint training undergraduate education project; and cooperated with Sabaragamuwa University in Sri Lanka to build a "Confucius Classroom".
