Henan University of Finance and Economics is located in Zhengzhou City, Henan Province. It is located in the heart of China, a thoroughfare connecting the nine states, bordering the Yellow River to the north and Songshan Mountain to the west. It is a provincial public full-time general college, a priority project construction unit for the award of doctoral degrees in Henan Province, and a characteristic backbone university in Henan Province.

The school was founded in 1948. There are three campuses, namely Wenbei Campus, Wennan Campus and Zhengdong Campus, covering an area of ​​more than 2,000 acres and a total construction area of ​​more than 1.1 million square meters. There are 66 undergraduate majors, including 12 first-level disciplines authorized for master's degrees, such as theoretical economics, applied economics, management science and engineering, business administration, agricultural and forestry economic management, law, philosophy, geography, Marxist theory, computer science and technology, urban and rural planning, and systems science. There are 18 master's professional degree authorization categories, such as finance, applied statistics, taxation, international business, asset evaluation, law, agriculture, business administration, public administration, accounting, auditing, journalism and communication, social work, engineering management (including logistics engineering and management), sports, translation, tourism management, and art. Finance, International Economics and Trade, Law, Marketing, Accounting, Financial Management, E-commerce, and Tourism Management are national first-class undergraduate professional construction points; "International Air Cargo Export Customs Clearance Virtual Simulation Experiment Teaching Project", "Statistical Thought and Discipline Frontiers", and "Foreign Legal History" are national first-class undergraduate courses. "University Aesthetic Education" MOOC was adopted by the Central Propaganda Department of "Studying to Strengthen the Country" and the Henan Learning Platform. More than 400,000 students from more than 400 universities across the country took it as an elective. The school's aesthetic education course construction is at the forefront of universities across the country. "Modern Service Industry Discipline Group" and "Applied Economics" were selected as characteristic backbone disciplines in Henan Province. There are 10 provincial key first-level disciplines, including philosophy, theoretical economics, applied economics, law, Marxist theory, geography, management science and engineering, business administration, agricultural and forestry economic management, and urban and rural planning, and there are 2 provincial key second-level disciplines, including ancient Chinese literature and computer application technology.

The school currently has more than 2,000 faculty and staff.
