Henan University of Technology

Henan University of Technology is located in Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan Province. It is a university jointly established by the Henan Provincial People's Government and the State Grain Administration. It was founded in 1956 and was successively affiliated with the State Grain Ministry, the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Domestic Trade. It started undergraduate education in 1959, master's degree education in 1981, and doctoral degree education in 2013. It was approved for master's degree recommendation in 2017 and doctoral degree awarding in 2018. The school has developed into a multidisciplinary university with engineering as its main discipline, covering science, economics, management, law, literature, art and agronomy. It not only has a complete three-level talent training system for bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees, but also has been successfully selected as the second unit in the first batch of the country's "2011 Collaborative Innovation Plan". The school has the most complete grain, oil and food discipline group and a strong superhard material discipline group in the country, and is known as the "Huangpu Military Academy" of the grain industry. There are 20 colleges and 67 undergraduate majors, 3 first-level disciplines authorized to confer doctoral degrees, 20 first-level disciplines authorized to confer master's degrees, 7 master's professional degree authorization categories, and 24 provincial first-level key disciplines.

Since its establishment, the school has adhered to the school-running positioning of "taking root in the Central Plains, based on the industry, serving the country, and facing the world", strictly adhering to the school-running philosophy of "education-oriented, quality-based, and characteristic development", adhering to the school motto of "Mingde, seeking truth, pioneering, and practicing", and vigorously promoting the spirit of "advocating science, daring to explore, serving the country and promoting education, and self-improvement", and condensing the school spirit of "unity, progress, pragmatism and efficiency", the teaching style of "erudition and dedication" and the style of study of "diligence and integrity".

Through the hard work and inheritance of successive generations of Gongda people, the school has developed into a multidisciplinary university with engineering as the main discipline, covering science, economics, management, law, literature, art and agriculture. It not only has a complete three-level talent training system for bachelor, master and doctoral degrees, but also has been successfully selected as the second unit in the first batch of the "2011 Collaborative Innovation Plan" of the country. It is a construction university of the "Basic Capacity Construction Project for Colleges and Universities in Central and Western China" and the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program" of the Ministry of Education. It has made due contributions to promoting the economic and social development of the industry, region and country and realizing the revitalization of education, and has achieved excellent results in talent training, scientific research, social services and other aspects.

1. Faculty

There are 1,960 full-time teachers, 934 teachers with associate senior titles or above, 1,000 teachers with doctoral degrees; 572 master's supervisors, 74 doctoral supervisors; a large number of academic leaders such as dual-appointed academicians, Yangtze River Scholars, winners of the National Outstanding Youth Science Fund, national candidates for the "Million Talents Project", State Council Special Allowance Experts, New Century Excellent Talents of the Ministry of Education, Central Plains Scholars, and Henan Province Teaching Masters; there are 26 high-level teaching and research teams at the provincial level and above.

Since its establishment, the school has produced a large number of well-known experts and scholars such as Chen Qizong, Lu Qianyu, Zhang Genwang, Zhou Nairu, Wang Fan, and Zhang Guoxian, who have made significant contributions and social influence in the fields of grain, abrasives and grinding tools. They have devoted themselves to academic research, established morality and cultivated people, encouraged the underachievers, and made outstanding contributions. They have made pioneering contributions to my country's grain industry, abrasives and grinding tools industry, school development, and social progress, and set an example for successors.

Among the current teachers, there are well-known experts such as Professor Bian Ke, Chairman of the Cereals and Legumes Branch of the International Organization for Standardization's Food Technical Committee, Professor Wang Fengcheng, Chairman of the International Cereal Science and Technology Association, and Professor Wang Yan, a three-time Olympic track and field referee. There are also a group of experts and professors who serve as the chairman or vice chairman of academic organizations such as the China Cereals and Oils Association, the China Grain Engineering Construction Committee, the National Abrasives and Grinding Tools Standardization Technical Committee, the China Heat Treatment Society, and the Organic Chemistry Phosphorus Chemistry Professional Committee of the Chinese Chemical Society. They teach and educate people in their respective professional fields and teaching positions, and are dedicated and exemplary.

2. Disciplines and majors

The school has long been committed to the basic theory and engineering technology research in the post-harvest field of grain, and has built a complete discipline system integrating storage, transportation, processing, equipment, information, and management; it has the most complete grain, oil and food discipline group in the country and a strong superhard material discipline group; the three disciplines of agricultural science, engineering, and chemistry are in the top 1% of the world in ESI (Essential Science Indicators). It has 3 postdoctoral mobile stations, 22 colleges, 74 undergraduate majors, 4 first-level disciplines authorized to confer doctoral degrees, 21 first-level disciplines authorized to confer master's degrees, 13 master's professional degree authorization categories, 24 provincial first-level key disciplines, and the "Grain Postharvest Safety and Processing" discipline group was selected as the first batch of superior and characteristic discipline construction projects in Henan Province; 5 national characteristic majors such as "Food Science and Engineering", 3 national comprehensive reform pilot majors such as "Grain Engineering", 3 national excellence plan majors such as "Food Science and Engineering, Grain Engineering" and "Computer Science and Technology", 16 provincial famous and characteristic majors, and 6 dual degree majors; 8 majors such as "Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation" were selected as the first batch of national first-class undergraduate major construction sites, and 29 majors such as "Economics" were selected as first-class undergraduate major construction sites in Henan Province. The school has the right to apply for a master's degree with equivalent academic ability and the right to confer a master's degree to university teachers.

III. Talent Training

The school recruits students nationwide; it is a national university for independent enrollment of international students in China, and has the qualifications for training "Chinese Government Scholarship", "Chinese Government Silk Road Scholarship" and "Henan Provincial Government Scholarship"; it is a national university for postgraduate recommendation and excellent unit for undergraduate teaching work level evaluation of ordinary colleges and universities; it has a national experimental teaching demonstration center for "Food Science", a national "Innovation Experimental Zone for Engineering Application Talent Training Model of Grain, Oil and Food", and a national off-campus practical education base for college students "Henan University of Technology-Henan Zhonghe Pure Powder Co., Ltd. Engineering Practice Education Center".

There are more than 38,000 full-time students, including 3,000 postgraduates and more than 300 foreign students; there are nearly 10,000 continuing education students; it has successively sent more than 220,000 qualified graduates to the country, and more than half of the management elites and technical backbones in the grain industry are from this school, which is known as the "Huangpu Military Academy" of the grain industry.

In the past five years, students have won 621 national awards and 1,312 provincial and ministerial awards in various competitions; the national master's degree thesis sampling pass rate has been 100% for consecutive years; the national "Challenge Cup" competition has led Henan for 9 consecutive sessions; it has been rated as "National Advanced Collective for Graduate Employment of Ordinary Colleges and Universities" by the Ministry of Education for two consecutive times, and has won many honorary titles such as "Top 50 Universities in Employment in the Country" and "National Advanced Collective for School Mental Health Education". The quality of talent training has been highly recognized and evaluated by the society.

IV. Scientific Research

The school has a strong scientific research team, which has long been committed to the basic theory and engineering technology research in the post-harvest field of grain, and has built a scientific research system and characteristics that integrates storage, transportation, processing, equipment, information, and management; actively serves the national strategic needs and the economic and social development of the industry and local areas, and has achieved a number of major research results in grain storage and transportation, warehouse construction, grain economy and logistics management, grain deep processing and comprehensive utilization, grain machinery, superhard materials and abrasives, which has effectively promoted the scientific and technological progress and social development of the industry and produced significant economic and social benefits; won 4 national awards at the National Science and Technology Conference in 1978 and the National Science and Technology Award Conference in 1986; in recent years, it has won 12 National Science and Technology Progress Awards (including 1 first prize, 9 second prizes, and 2 third prizes), 2 second prizes for national teaching achievements, and 1 first prize for China Standard Innovation Contribution; in 2017, it entered the top 100 universities in China's university science and technology innovation competitiveness.

There are 35 provincial and ministerial and national scientific research platforms, including the National Engineering Laboratory for Deep Processing of Wheat and Corn, the National Engineering Laboratory for Grain Storage and Transportation, the Key Laboratory of Grain Information Processing and Control jointly built by the Ministry of Education, the Engineering Research Center of Grain Storage and Safety of the Ministry of Education, the China Grain Logistics Research and Training Center, and the National Soybean Improvement Center Deep Processing Research Institute (Zhengzhou); the China Grain Museum Pre-Museum has been built; it is the Zhengzhou Training Base for the National Grain Industry; it has the first academician workstation in Henan Province, the Logistics Research Center, the Grain Economic Research Center, the Superhard Materials and Products Engineering Technology Research Center and other 15 prefecture-level scientific and technological platforms; there are also 54 school-level academic research institutions such as the Geotechnical Engineering Research Institute and the Logistics Research Institute, and more than 100 teaching, scientific research, internship and training platforms.

V. School Conditions

The total area is 1.938 million square meters, and the total building area is 1.062 million square meters. It has three campuses: Lianhua Street Campus, Songshan Road Campus, and Zhongyuan Road Campus. It has high-standard teaching buildings and modern student dormitories. It is a demonstration unit of "digital campus" and a pilot unit for the construction of "smart campus" and "network learning space" in Henan Province.

It has various basic laboratories, professional laboratories, engineering training centers, experimental teaching demonstration centers, virtual experimental teaching centers, undergraduate experimental teaching centers and engineering training centers, including food engineering, construction engineering, physics, chemistry, mechanics, electrical and electronic engineering, and mechanical foundations. It is equipped with a large number of advanced experimental instruments and equipment, with a total value of 689 million yuan for teaching and scientific research instruments and equipment, and 860 sets of instruments and equipment worth more than 100,000 yuan. The school library is the "National Grain and Oil Subject Literature and Information Center" approved by the former Ministry of Commerce, with a collection of more than 2.704 million books, and has built two special databases for grain, oil and food, and superhard materials and abrasives. "Journal of Henan University of Technology (Natural Science Edition)" is a national Chinese core journal and a Chinese science and technology core journal. Advanced and complete teaching and scientific research facilities, and an elegant and pleasant campus environment provide a solid foundation for teaching, scientific research, management and life services.
