Guangzhou Panyu Vocational and Technical College (formerly Panyu Polytechnic College and Panyu Vocational and Technical College) was established in 1993 and officially approved by the Ministry of Education in September 1997. It is the first batch of public full-time general higher vocational colleges in the country and the first in Guangzhou. In 2003, it was identified by the Guangzhou Municipal Government as the leading college of higher vocational education in the city. In April 2005, it passed the talent training level assessment of the Ministry of Education with "excellent" results. In December 2006, it was identified by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance as one of the first 28 colleges to be established in the "National Demonstration Higher Vocational College Construction Plan". In December 2009, it passed the acceptance of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance and was officially approved as the first batch of national demonstration higher vocational colleges. In November 2010, it was awarded the title of "Advanced Collective of Vocational and Technical Education in Guangdong Province" by the People's Government of Guangdong Province. In May 2014, it won the highest award in my country's vocational education sector - the "Excellent School Award" of the Fourth Huang Yanpei Vocational Education Award. In July 2014, it was rated as "Top 50 Universities with Typical Experience in Graduate Employment" by the Ministry of Education. In November 2016, it became a construction unit of the Guangdong Province's first-class higher vocational college construction plan. From 2017 to 2019, it won the "Top 50 International Influence of Higher Vocational Colleges in China", "Top 50 Service Contributions of Higher Vocational Colleges in China", "Top 50 Teaching Management of Higher Vocational Colleges in China", and "Top 50 Education Results of Higher Vocational Colleges in China". In July 2019, it was rated as a "High-quality Junior College Higher Vocational College" by the Ministry of Education. In December 2019, it was selected as one of the "Top 30" construction units of high-level higher vocational schools with Chinese characteristics.

The school is located in Panyu District, Guangzhou City, in the hinterland of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. It is built next to the Dishuiyan Forest Park and the Shawan exit of the Dongxin Expressway. It is about a 15-minute drive from Guangzhou South Station and is adjacent to the national 4A scenic spots - Shawan Ancient Town, Baomo Garden, and 5A scenic spot - Changlu Farm. The school is a landscape ecological campus with 5 large and small lakes, and the landscape area accounts for 65% of the total area. The campus is full of lakes and mountains, beautiful scenery, lush flowers and trees, and verdant all year round. It is a garden-style unit in Guangzhou. In 2012, it was awarded the "Charming Campus of National Vocational Colleges" and is known as one of the most beautiful universities in the country. The school covers an area of ​​2,067 acres, with a school building area of ​​328,300 square meters, and a total value of fixed assets exceeding 1.175 billion yuan, of which the total value of teaching and scientific research equipment exceeds 389 million yuan. The library covers an area of ​​28,400 square meters, with 3,818 reading seats, more than 1.35 million paper books and nearly 565 paper journals; the digital resources are about 26,000 GB, including more than 599,800 electronic books and more than 9,000 electronic academic journals. There are 47 on-campus training bases and 240 off-campus training bases. There are currently 14,070 full-time students, and the source of students is distributed in 14 provinces (autonomous regions) across the country.

The school is a pilot school for intellectual property rights in Guangzhou, with a total of more than 2,400 patent authorizations. In 2019, our school was selected as the first batch of "Jingshi International College" by the Ministry of Education and was rated as one of the top 50 influential vocational colleges in Asia-Pacific. In 2010, Huang Dezhi, a 2001 graduate of the school's mold design and manufacturing major, was awarded the lofty honor of "National Model Worker" and was solemnly commended by the Party Central Committee and the State Council in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. In 2018, Wang Junwen, a 2002 graduate of the school's foreign-related secretarial major, won the Guangdong Province May 1st Labor Medal. In 2021, the graduation destination implementation rate of graduates reached 98.17%.
