Chongqing Mechanical and Electrical Vocational and Technical University (school identification code: 4150012607), formerly known as Chongqing Ordnance Industry Workers University, consists of eight vocational colleges, namely Chang'an, Jiangling, Jialing, Jianshe, Changjiang, Wangjiang, Xiche, and Luhua. In 2003, a full-time general college was established on the basis of Chongqing Ordnance Vocational College. On May 27, 2019, the Ministry of Education officially issued a document (Jiaofa Letter [2019] No. 36), approving the official renaming of Chongqing Mechanical and Electrical Vocational and Technical College (undergraduate) to "Chongqing Mechanical and Electrical Vocational and Technical University", becoming the first batch of undergraduate vocational education pilot colleges in the country, and recruiting undergraduate students nationwide from 2019.

The school is located in Bishan, the western new district of Chongqing, covering an area of ​​948 acres and a construction area of ​​300,000 square meters. The campus is rationally planned, built on the mountain, with an elegant environment, beautiful scenery, magnificent buildings, complete teaching facilities, a large-scale training center, and student dormitories, sports venues, and life service centers. It is a high-quality campus suitable for living, walking, and learning. In the 50 years of running the school, the school has gradually formed the characteristics of "originating from military industry, military school integration, serving national defense", "connecting industry, intelligent manufacturing, outstanding advantages", "school-enterprise cooperation, industry-education integration, and collaborative education". It has successively won the "Top Ten Characteristic Vocational Schools in China", "Top 100 Employment Vocational Colleges in China", "National Double Innovation Demonstration Unit", "National School-Enterprise Cooperation Advanced Unit", and "National National Defense Education Advanced Unit". The school is the first college in Chongqing to train non-commissioned officers of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, a standing director unit of the China Military Culture Research Association, a vice chairman unit of the Military Industry Security Industry Alliance, and a national high-skilled talent training base.

The school currently offers 17 vocational undergraduate majors, including mechanical design and manufacturing and automation, material forming and control engineering, automotive engineering technology, electrical engineering and automation, Internet of Things engineering, intelligent manufacturing engineering, big data technology and application, automotive service engineering, engineering cost, logistics management, and preschool education. In addition, there are 47 specialized majors, including mechanical design and manufacturing, numerical control technology, mechatronics technology, automobile inspection and maintenance technology, automobile assembly technology, construction engineering, and accounting. The school's experimental training center consists of a mechanical engineering center, a Sino-German automotive engineering center, an intelligent manufacturing engineering center, a collaborative innovation center for industry-education integration, and a virtual simulation teaching and training center. It has built three training bases supported by the central government, 125 internship and training bases inside and outside the school, including 66 off-campus internship bases. The school's collection of paper and electronic books totals nearly 1.38 million volumes.

The school currently has 987 faculty and staff, including 769 full-time teachers. Among the full-time teachers, there are 234 teachers with professional and technical titles of associate senior or above, accounting for 30.43% of the full-time teachers; 344 full-time teachers with postgraduate degrees, accounting for 44.73% of the full-time teachers. The school has 12 colleges, including the School of Mechanical Engineering, the School of Vehicle and Transportation, the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, the School of Information Engineering, the School of Architectural Engineering, the School of Business Administration, the School of Art, the School of General Education, the School of Non-commissioned Officers, the School of Child Development and Health Management, the School of Digital Arts, and the School of Marxism. There are a total of 19,315 undergraduate students.

The school actively responded to the call of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China to "deepen the integration of industry and education, and school-enterprise cooperation", and opened a collaborative education platform for the government, industry, enterprises, and schools. The school has achieved diversified school-enterprise cooperation through "joint customized training programs", "cooperative development of professional courses", "co-construction of teaching teams", "co-construction of training bases", "order training", and "industry-university-research exchanges". It cooperates with more than 200 enterprises including Port Group, BOE, Changan, Yangtze Electric, Dongfeng Xiaokang, China Auto Southwest, BYD, CRRC Hengtong, Xinlonghu, etc., involving state-owned enterprises, central enterprises, military enterprises, private enterprises, Sino-foreign joint ventures and other types of enterprises. In the past five years, the employment rate of graduates has reached 98%.
