PetHub was founded in 2010 by former Microsoft employee, technical writer, serial entrepreneur, and most importantly, “pet parent” Tom Arnold (more on that later). Since then, the team has grown to include a talented and dedicated group of people. As Tom likes to say, “I’m surrounded by smart people who inspire me and elevate PetHub’s original vision.”
Throughout its 14-year history, the company has been impacting the nation’s dismal return to pet (RTO) rates. “When we started PetHub, the return rate for dogs was less than 18% and for cats less than 2%. After finding a ‘pet community member’ through PetHub’s service, approximately 96% of them are returned home within 24 hours. Best of all, less than 2% end up at the doorstep of an animal shelter because of the many ways PetHub helps communities return animals to their families,” Tom said.
PetHub was the first company to introduce QR code ID tags, patenting the invention in October 2010. Since then, the company has filed additional patents for its software algorithms, NFC (near field communication) ID tags, and most recently, WalletCard and CrateCard (both part of the PetHub Ready Kit).
