Henan Normal University is located in Xinxiang, a famous city in northern Henan Province. It is backed by the towering Taihang Mountains in the north and borders the surging Yellow River in the south. It is located on the vast Muye land and the beautiful Weishui River. The school is a university supported by the National Central and Western Higher Education Revitalization Plan, a university implementing the National "111 Plan", a university jointly built by the Henan Provincial People's Government and the Ministry of Education, an excellent school in the undergraduate teaching level assessment of the Ministry of Education, and a characteristic backbone university in Henan Province. The school has a profound historical heritage and rich educational resources. The predecessor of the university was the Department of Science of Zhongzhou University (the predecessor of the former National Henan University) founded in 1923 and Pingyuan Normal College founded in 1951. It has gone through the stages of Henan Normal College Second College, Henan Second Normal College, Xinxiang Normal College, etc., and was named Henan Normal University in 1985.
