Zhengzhou Institute of Engineering and Technology is a public full-time undergraduate college established on the basis of the former Zhongzhou University with the approval of the Ministry of Education. Comrade Chen Yun, then Vice Chairman of the CPC Central Committee, wrote the name of the school. The school fully implements the education policy of the Party and the State, adheres to the socialist direction of running schools, and continuously deepens the reform of education and teaching. Zhengzhou Institute of Engineering and Technology is located in the north of Zhengzhou City, the heart of the Central Plains, on the beautiful bank of the Yellow River, covering an area of ​​1,484.84 acres, with a construction area of ​​541,100 square meters, and a total value of teaching instruments and equipment of 251 million yuan. There are three provincial first-class professional construction sites: "Electronic Information Engineering", "Special Education" and "Intelligent Science and Technology". The school actively responds to the national strategy of expanding educational openness and the "Belt and Road Initiative", solidly performs the functions of international cooperation and exchange, deepens and expands international cooperation and exchange projects, and continuously improves the level of internationalization of school management. It has carried out multi-level cooperation with universities in Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, Russia, Sweden, Poland and other countries. At present, it has jointly organized foreign cooperation projects in accounting, marketing, visual communication and radio and television production with Chichester College in the United Kingdom and Edith Cowan University in Australia.

Zhengzhou Institute of Engineering and Technology has continuously enhanced its ability to serve economic and social development. It has built 35 research platforms at all levels, including the Henan Engineering Laboratory for Electric Vehicle Battery Network Combination and Maintenance Technology, the Henan Big Data Double Innovation Base, the Henan Postdoctoral Innovation and Practice Base, the Academic Research Base of the National and Local Governance Research Association of the Chinese Behavioral Law Society, and the Central Plains Green Development Research Institute; and jointly established 2 provincial engineering technology research centers with enterprises, involving Zhengzhou's industrial leading industries such as food, new energy vehicles, electronic information, and new materials.

In recent years, the school has taken the "1234" project as a starting point, focusing on the strategic goal of "building an applied undergraduate college that has a certain supporting role in local economic and social development and has a certain influence in and outside the province"; promoting the school's transformation from "junior college to undergraduate college, comprehensive college to applied college"; achieving three leaps in "teaching quality, management level, innovation and entrepreneurship", ensuring the "significant enhancement of the quality of the teaching staff, the level of teaching and research, the comprehensive ability of students, and the vitality of school development", and promoting the overall reform and career development.

The school continues to expand the space for running schools and improve the school environment. Actively participate in the Beijing-Henan and Shanghai-Henan cooperation strategies, start all-round cooperation with the North China University of Technology, and sign a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement with Shanghai University of Engineering Science and Technology. In June 2018, with the joint support of the Zhengzhou Municipal People's Government and Tongji University, the Zhengzhou Sino-German College, co-built by Zhengzhou Institute of Engineering Technology, was established. In June 2019, the Propaganda Department of the Zhengzhou Municipal Party Committee and the School of Marxism jointly built by the Zhengzhou Institute of Engineering Technology were established. On July 1, 2019, Zhengzhou Institute of Engineering and the Party Working Committee of Boxue Road, Zhengdong New District, Zhengzhou City jointly established the first Party Building College in Zhengzhou City, which built a new platform for cooperation between colleges and local party committees and established a new pattern of co-construction, sharing, integrated development, and mutual assistance.

The school effectively promoted the construction of "one school and four districts". The Yingcai Campus, Jinhe Campus, Navigation Campus, and Longzihu Campus integrate intelligence, humanization, and ecology.
