Zhengzhou Normal University is located in Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan Province, on the bank of the Yellow River and the foot of Songshan Mountain. It is a full-time general undergraduate college established in March 2010 on the basis of Zhengzhou Normal College with the approval of the Ministry of Education. Its predecessor was the Henan Provincial Zhengzhou Normal School established in 1949, and it has a history of more than 70 years.

The college currently covers an area of ​​1,060 acres, with a building area of ​​more than 627,800 square meters, 221 experimental training rooms of various types, and a total value of 263 million yuan for teaching and scientific research equipment; there are 6 affiliated primary and secondary schools, 275 off-campus internship and training bases; the library has more than 1.78 million paper books, more than 2.523 million electronic books, and 57 Chinese and foreign databases; it has a cloud data center, a visual network operation and maintenance monitoring center, and a 10G core switching fiber backbone campus network.

The college currently has more than 1,300 faculty and staff, including 358 teachers with senior professional and technical positions; 976 teachers with doctoral and master's degrees, experts enjoying special allowances from the State Council, national "Ten Thousand Talents Plan" teaching masters, members of the Ministry of Education's Higher Education Teaching Steering Committee, national general higher education normal professional certification experts, Henan Province Outstanding Experts, "Zhongyuan Thousand Talents Plan" Zhongyuan Teaching Masters, Henan Province Teaching Masters, etc. 37 people. The college adheres to the principle of teacher education as the main body, and the coordinated development of multiple disciplines including liberal arts, science, engineering, and management. It has 9 disciplines including economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, management, and art. There are 44 undergraduate majors, 14 junior college majors, 16,697 full-time students, and 2,402 adult education students.

At present, the college has 2 national-level high-quality resource sharing courses, 1 demonstration project for teacher team building of the Ministry of Education, 1 reform project of the Ministry of Education's excellent teacher training plan, 3 provincial key disciplines, 1 provincial teacher education reform and innovation pilot zone, 1 provincial engineering laboratory, 1 provincial demonstration training base, 3 provincial teaching team construction projects, 5 provincial professional comprehensive reform pilots, 4 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers, 2 provincial "12th Five-Year Plan" general higher education planning textbook projects, 8 provincial high-quality resource online open courses, 3 provincial high-quality resource sharing courses, 4 provincial characteristic professional construction points, 5 provincial excellent grassroots teaching organizations, 2 provincial excellent teacher training plan reform projects, and 2 provincial excellent courses; it undertakes 10 National Natural Science Foundation projects, 7 National Social Science Foundation projects, 14 provincial higher education teaching reform research projects, 4 provincial teaching reform achievement awards, 133 provincial teacher education curriculum reform research projects, and 15 provincial teacher education achievement awards; it has built a national e-commerce demonstration base. Joint training graduate programs have been carried out with Zhengzhou University, Henan University, Henan Agricultural University and other universities.

The college focuses on improving the ability to serve basic education, integrating pre-service and post-service teacher education. It is now the undertaker of the "National Training Program" demonstration project and the central and western project of the Ministry of Education, the Henan Province New Curriculum Reform Trainer and the Provincial Key Primary School Teacher Training Base, the Henan Province Primary and Secondary School Principal Training Base, the Xinjiang Aid Project Training Base, and the Intel Future Education Project Henan General Executive Agency. During the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" period, more than 100,000 teachers were trained.

The college takes the promotion of local economic and social development as its own responsibility and implements scientific and technological innovation projects. Eight school-level scientific research institutions have been established, including the Zhengzhou National Central City Construction Research Institute (Tianzhong Think Tank), Henan Province E-Commerce Development Planning Institute, Psychology (Behavior and Cognitive Science) International Joint Laboratory, Molecular Biology Laboratory, Bioengineering Research Center, Software Science Research Center, Education and Psychological Science Research Center, and Spatial Information Engineering Research Center. The Zhengzhou Integrity Culture Research Base, Zhengzhou Social Science Popularization Education Research Base and several professors and experts' studios have been established, and newspapers and periodicals such as "Zhengzhou Normal Education" and "Zhengzhou Normal University News" have been sponsored. During the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" period, more than 300 national and provincial research projects were undertaken, and more than 10 scientific and technological achievements were transformed.

The college actively carries out foreign exchanges and cooperation, and continuously improves its internationalization level. It has established cooperative relations with 20 colleges and universities in 9 countries including the United States, Britain, Canada, Russia, and India, and has co-built an international joint laboratory of behavioral and cognitive sciences with three institutions including the University of California, Davis, the University of Hildesheim, Germany, and the Hanbit Mental Rehabilitation Hospital in South Korea. It has been recognized as an international scientific and technological cooperation base in Zhengzhou City, and has established Chinese language and cultural exchange centers in three universities including the Royal College of Canada, and has undertaken an educational exchange project between Zhengzhou City and Joinville, Brazil. Every year, teachers are selected to study abroad, and multiple inspection teams are organized to visit and exchange abroad.

Over the past 70 years since its establishment, the college has been adhering to the fine tradition of teacher education, firmly establishing the idea of ​​serving Henan's basic education and local economic and social development, insisting on quality-based schools, talent-based schools, scientific research-based schools, distinctive schools, and law-based schools.
