Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University

Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University is a provincial general higher education institution with the right to confer master's degrees. It was founded in 1957 and was formerly known as Guangdong Nationalities College. The first president was Comrade Luo Ming, an old revolutionary. In 2002, it was renamed Guangdong Polytechnic Normal College. In 2002 and 2005, the former Guangdong Mechanical School, the former Guangdong Economic Management Cadre College and the Guangdong Finance and Trade Management Cadre College were successively merged. In 2018, it was renamed Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University. The school currently has five campuses, including the East Campus, West Campus, North Campus, Baiyun Campus and Heyuan Campus.

The school is a doctoral degree-granting unit project construction university and a Guangdong Province "strive for the first-class, make up for shortcomings, and strengthen characteristics" characteristic university improvement plan construction school. The school currently has eight major disciplines, including economics, law, education, literature, science, engineering, management, and art. There are five provincial key disciplines, including ethnology, vocational and technical education, modern and contemporary Chinese literature, control science and engineering, and mechanical engineering. There are three Zhujiang Scholars, including modern and contemporary Chinese literature, communication and information systems, and pattern recognition and intelligent systems. There are four first-level master's degree authorization points, including education, ethnology, journalism and communication, and control science and engineering. There are six master's professional degree authorization points, including education, electronic information, accounting, machinery, energy and power, and journalism and communication. The school is a graduate recruitment and training unit for "on-the-job master's professional degree for vocational school teachers", "high-level backbone talent plan for ethnic minorities", "retired college student soldier plan", and a pilot unit for professional degree graduate students in the field of vocational and technical education of the Master of Education (abbreviated as "vocational education master"), and there are 21 Guangdong Province graduate joint training bases.

The school adheres to the moral education of people and is committed to cultivating high-quality vocational education teachers and application-oriented senior professionals. The school currently has 24 secondary teaching units, with more than 37,000 full-time students; 72 undergraduate majors, including 36 science and engineering majors, 36 liberal arts majors; 32 teacher training majors; more than 50 national and provincial first-class undergraduate majors, comprehensive reform pilot majors, outstanding talent training plan majors and application-oriented demonstration majors; more than 70 national and provincial first-class undergraduate courses, online open courses, curriculum ideological and political demonstration courses, and teacher education courses. The school has built a discipline and professional training system for high-quality vocational teachers and application-oriented talents, constantly innovated talent training models, continued to deepen the integration of production and education, carried out in-depth innovation and entrepreneurship education, carried out collaborative innovation strategic cooperation projects with local governments, industry enterprises, etc., and jointly built 264 national and provincial college student practice teaching bases with well-known enterprises. The employment rate has remained at the forefront of similar universities for many years. The school has a number of strong scientific research platforms. The total value of the school's teaching and scientific research equipment exceeds 350 million yuan. It has built the Guangdong Industrial Training Center, 1 Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory (Guangdong Provincial Intellectual Property Big Data Key Laboratory), 3 provincial think tanks (Vocational Education Development Research Center, National Development Research Center, Chinese National Community Research Institute), 5 Guangzhou Key Laboratories, 2 Guangzhou Humanities and Social Sciences Key Research Bases, 13 Guangdong Engineering Technology Research Centers, 1 International Cooperation Base, 13 Guangdong Provincial Education Department Scientific Research Platforms, and 10 Guangdong Provincial Education Department Scientific Research Teams. In addition, the school also co-built the Shunde Modern Vocational Education Research Institute with the People's Government of Shunde District, Foshan City, and co-built the Heyuan Research Institute with the People's Government of Heyuan City. In the past three years, the school has won a total of 45 National Natural Science and National Social Science Funds (30 natural sciences, 15 humanities and social sciences), and won 11 scientific research awards at the provincial and ministerial levels or above (8 natural sciences, 3 humanities and social sciences).
