Guangdong Petrochemical University

Guangdong University of Petrochemical Technology is a public undergraduate university jointly established by the People's Government of Guangdong Province, China Petrochemical Corporation, China National Petroleum Corporation, and China National Offshore Oil Corporation. It is the only university with petrochemical characteristics in South China, a pilot university of the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program" of the Ministry of Education, a high-level university of science and engineering in Guangdong Province, and a master's degree awarding institution.

The school is located in Maoming City, Guangdong Province, the largest petrochemical production base and fruit production base in southern China and a beautiful coastal city. It covers an area of ​​1.3596 million square meters (about 2,040 acres) and is divided into three campuses: Guandu, Xicheng, and Guanghua.

The school was founded in 1954. Adhering to the school motto of "respecting morality, being knowledgeable, seeking truth and innovating", the school philosophy of "born from oil and dedicated to oil", and promoting the school spirit of "hard work, seeking truth and devotion" and the "spirit of westward migration" of Guangdong Oil with the core of "listening to the call of the party, dedicating to the country; hard work and loyalty", it has trained a large number of management elites, technical backbones and various application-oriented talents, which are spread all over the country's petrochemical industry enterprises and government agencies at all levels, scientific research institutes, and education industries. It has made important contributions to the petroleum and petrochemical industry and local economic and social development, and is an important base for talent training in the petroleum and petrochemical industry.

Talent Training

Enrolling students from 27 provinces (cities and regions) across the country, since 2005, it has jointly trained doctoral and master's students with 47 universities including Tsinghua University, Taiyuan University of Technology, South China University of Technology, Guangdong University of Technology, China University of Petroleum and Lincoln University in the United Kingdom.

It has 1 national first-class course (first batch) (petroleum refining engineering), provincial first-class undergraduate courses, and 31 provincial quality open courses.

It has 3 national engineering practice education centers, 2 provincial collaborative education platforms (collaborative education platform for petrochemical applied talents, collaborative education center that highlights the cultivation of innovative and entrepreneurial capabilities), 4 provincial (demonstration) industrial colleges, 12 provincial excellent teaching teams, 9 provincial talent training model innovation experimental zones (demonstration bases), 10 provincial university experimental teaching demonstration centers, 12 provincial college students' off-campus practical teaching bases, and 3 provincial demonstration teacher education practice bases.

In the past three years, it has won 3 first prizes and 4 second prizes for provincial teaching achievements; the employment rate of graduates is above 98%.

Faculty

There are 606 people with senior and deputy senior professional titles, and 1,093 people with doctoral and master's degrees. In the past two years, it has independently trained 1 foreign academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, 1 talent of the National "Million Talents Project", 1 expert winner of the State Council Special Allowance, and 2 Pearl River Scholars. Disciplines and Majors

There are nine major disciplines, including engineering, science, management, economics, education, literature, law, history, and art. There are 58 undergraduate majors, of which 43 are science and engineering majors, accounting for 74.13%.

Engineering science ranks among the top 1% in the ESI global ranking, and the "communication engineering" discipline is selected as a world-class discipline by Soft Science in 2021. 3 provincial key disciplines (chemical engineering and technology, control science and engineering, environmental science and engineering), 4 provincial key disciplines (control theory and control engineering, chemical technology, environmental engineering, food science and engineering), and 3 "Pearl River Scholar" positions.

3 master's degree authorization points: electronic information, materials and chemical engineering, resources and environment.

Co-established the International Industrial Safety Big Data Research Institute with the University of Lincoln in the UK. Co-established 3 new R&D institutions with enterprises, including "Guangdong Oil-MeiLian New Materials Research Institute", "Guangdong Oil-Fengneng High-tech Research Institute" and "Guangdong Oil-Huafeng Research Institute".

In the past three years, the university has undertaken more than 1,000 projects, including two key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, one international (regional) cooperation and exchange project of the (NSFC), and more than 1,000 projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation of China's general projects, youth projects, and the National Social Science Foundation's special project for ideological and political courses in colleges and universities, the Ministry of Education's humanities and social science projects, and the key projects of the provincial key field research and development plan. It has won more than 90 awards, including the first prize of Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Progress, the first prize of China's petroleum and chemical automation industry science and technology progress, the first prize of technological invention, and the third prize of Wu Wenjun Artificial Intelligence Science and Technology Award. More than 1,200 patents have been authorized.

Foreign Cooperation

It has established exchange and cooperation relations with nearly 50 universities or government agencies in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Ukraine, Malaysia, Poland, Nigeria and other countries and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. The cooperation content includes academic exchanges, teacher-student exchanges and scientific research cooperation projects. In 2013, it obtained the qualification to recruit international students. In 2014, it trained international students sent by the Nigerian Petroleum Technology Development Foundation. We recruit students from all over the world who major in petroleum engineering, chemical engineering and technology (petrochemical engineering), international economics and trade, and students who study Chinese and Chinese culture.

We have established close industry-university-research cooperation with large and super-large enterprises such as Sinopec Maoming Branch, Sinopec Guangzhou Branch, Zhongke (Guangdong) Refining and Chemical Co., Ltd., Sinopec Zhanjiang Dongxing Petrochemical Company, Sinopec Sales Co., Ltd. South China Branch (hereinafter referred to as Sales South China Branch), Shenyang Blower Group, and ZTE Corporation.
