Guangdong University of Finance & Economics (Guangdong University of Finance & Economics), now jointly established by the People's Government of Guangdong Province and the Ministry of Justice of the People's Republic of China, is a higher education institution with law and business as its teaching characteristics. It is one of the key universities in Guangdong Province, one of the designated universities in the "1+2+1 Sino-US Talent Training Program" of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, one of the first batch of universities in the national excellent legal talent education and training program, and a member of the "Belt and Road" University Strategic Alliance.

Guangdong University of Finance and Economics is located in Guangzhou, the millennium commercial capital and the oriental origin of the Maritime Silk Road. It is a doctoral degree-granting institution, a highland for the cultivation of financial, political and legal talents in Guangdong and even in South China, and a key research base for the innovative development of modern service industry and social governance. The school was founded in 1983 and was formerly known as Guangdong University of Finance and Economics. It started as an undergraduate education. It was renamed Guangdong University of Business Studies in 1985, obtained the right to confer master's degrees in 2003, and passed the undergraduate teaching work level assessment with an "excellent" grade in 2007. It was renamed Guangdong University of Finance and Economics in 2013 and was approved as a doctoral degree-granting institution in 2021.

The school currently has two campuses in Guangzhou and Foshan, covering an area of ​​2,275 acres. The Guangzhou campus is located on the banks of the Pearl River in the southeast of Guangzhou, adjacent to the Pazhou Artificial Intelligence and Digital Economy Experimental Zone; the Foshan campus is located in the scenic Yundonghai Tourism and Economic Zone of Foshan City. The school takes economics, management, and law as the main body, and literature, science, engineering, art and other disciplines develop in a coordinated manner, vigorously developing new liberal arts, new business, and interdisciplinary disciplines. Applied economics is a first-level discipline authorized for doctoral degrees, a provincial key discipline and a key discipline for "strengthening", business administration and law are two first-level disciplines of provincial key disciplines and key disciplines for "strengthening", theoretical economics is a provincial key discipline, and digital economics was approved to be added as a key discipline for "strengthening" in 2021.
