Jiaying College is a full-time public undergraduate college in Guangdong Province with a century-old history of teacher education. It is located in Meizhou City, Guangdong Province, a famous historical and cultural city in China, the hometown of Marshal Ye Jianying, a famous revolutionary old area, and the entire area belongs to the former Central Soviet Area. It is also known as the "World Hakka Capital", "Cultural Hometown, Overseas Chinese Hometown, and Football Hometown". The school recruits students from 15 provinces (cities, regions), and currently has more than 28,000 full-time students and nearly 10,000 adult education students. The disciplines and majors are comprehensive, covering 11 disciplines such as literature, science, engineering, law, and medicine, with 7 provincial key disciplines; there are 21 secondary colleges and 60 undergraduate majors, including 1 national characteristic major, 1 national comprehensive reform pilot major, 6 provincial first-class majors, 2 provincial key majors, 10 provincial characteristic majors, 7 provincial comprehensive reform pilot majors, 3 provincial strategic emerging industry characteristic majors, and 3 provincial applied talent training demonstration majors. Among them, primary education has passed the teacher training major certification of the Ministry of Education, clinical medicine has passed the clinical medicine major certification of the Ministry of Education, and software engineering has passed the IEET engineering education certification; there are 4 campuses, the headquarters is located in Jiangbei Campus, the campus covers an area of ​​more than 1,800 acres, the building area is 619,800 square meters, the environment is beautiful, and the facilities are advanced. It is an ideal place for learning and studying.

——With a long history and obvious characteristics. The predecessor of the school was the Meixian County Women's Normal School founded in 1913 (Meizhou was called Jiaying Prefecture in the Qing Dynasty, and Jiaying College got its name from this). It has a history of 108 years of running schools. It has experienced 65 years of secondary technical education and 22 years of college education. It was upgraded to an undergraduate college in 2000 and was newly added as a bachelor's degree-granting institution in Guangdong Province in 2004; in 2006, it passed the undergraduate teaching work level evaluation of the Ministry of Education with a "good" grade; in 2017, it passed the undergraduate teaching work review and evaluation of the Ministry of Education; in 2018, it was listed as a construction university in the Guangdong Province's higher education "breakthrough, supplement and strengthen" improvement plan; in 2021, the school-running system was adjusted from "provincial and municipal co-construction" to "provincial undergraduate university", and it was approved as a Guangdong Province Master's Degree Awarding Project Construction Unit, established the Guangdong Provincial Doctoral Work Station, and co-built a postdoctoral innovation and practice base with Sun Yat-sen University. It is a demonstration base for joint training of graduate students in Guangdong Province. Adhering to the school-running purpose of "based on the local, serving Guangdong, facing the whole country, and looking at the world", creating the school-running characteristics of "rooting in the hometown of overseas Chinese, promoting Hakka culture", and cultivating a large number of application-oriented talents with innovative spirit and practical ability to adapt to the needs of local economic and social development.

——Establishing morality and educating people, passing on the torch. As a construction unit of the National Teacher Education Innovation Experimental Zone in Guangdong Province, the school adheres to the school motto of "diligence, integrity, self-reliance and cultivation", adheres to the education of people with culture and morality, promotes the all-round development of students' morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics and labor, and cultivates socialist builders and successors. In recent years, students have won a total of 1,812 awards in various discipline competitions at the provincial level and above, including 589 national awards and 1,223 provincial awards; students have achieved gratifying results in postgraduate entrance examinations, with more than 2,000 admissions; the total pass rate of the doctor's qualification examination is 85.25% (21 percentage points higher than the national average); the enrollment situation has improved year by year, and the quality of students has continued to improve; the employment rate of graduates has increased year by year, achieving more full and higher-quality employment.

——Introduce and cultivate, and strengthen faculty. The school insists on introducing and cultivating, and uses talents to strengthen the school and help the school's cause develop with high quality. There are more than 1,800 faculty members, including more than 1,400 full-time teachers (more than 140 senior professional titles, more than 410 associate senior professional titles, more than 290 doctors, and more than 800 masters). The school has increased the efforts of internal teacher training and the construction of a "double-qualified and dual-capable" teaching team; implemented training programs for young doctors, young teachers, and backbone teachers. In recent years, the school has obtained a total of 19 National Natural Science Foundation projects and National Social Science Foundation projects, 13 humanities and social science projects of the Ministry of Education, more than 130 provincial natural science foundation and provincial philosophy and social science planning projects, and 207 horizontal scientific research projects; teachers have published more than 3,000 scientific research papers in nationally published journals, more than 180 of which have been included in the internationally renowned natural science retrieval system; and obtained 109 national patents. ——Take the initiative to serve the local area. The school is rooted in Meizhou to run a university and serve the local economic and social development. It is currently jointly building the Guangdong Provincial Local Legislation Research, Evaluation and Consulting Service Base with the Standing Committee of the Guangdong Provincial People's Congress; jointly building the Guangdong Provincial College Anti-Corruption Research Center with the Guangdong Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision; jointly building the "Soviet Spirit (Guangdong) Research Center" with the Party History Research Office of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and the Municipal Party History Research Office; jointly building the School of Marxism with the Propaganda Department of the Meizhou Municipal Party Committee; jointly building the "Meizhou Local Legislation and Research Base" with the Municipal People's Congress Standing Committee; jointly building the "Intellectual Property College", "Northeast Guangdong Regional Coordinated Development and Rural Revitalization Research Institute", "Regional Geographic Environment Simulation and Intelligent Decision-making Research Institute", "National Supercomputing Guangzhou Center Meizhou Branch", "Big Data Research and Application Collaborative Innovation Center", "Micro-Nano Electronic Materials Joint Research Center" and other influential industry-university-research collaborative innovation platforms with Meizhou City and Sun Yat-sen University; in recent years, the school has taken the initiative to connect with the governments, enterprises and institutions of the eight counties (cities and districts) in Meizhou, and has successively selected more than 500 provincial and municipal science and technology commissioners to carry out school-enterprise cooperation with more than 300 enterprises and institutions in Meizhou; jointly building "Industry College" with local industries and enterprises, and actively serving the construction of Meizhou Football Special Zone and Ceramic Industry Cluster. Relying on the "Soviet Spirit (Guangdong) Research Center" and the "Guangdong Province Former Central Soviet Research Center", a "four-in-one" red cultural education system of classroom teaching, campus culture, thematic social practice and online teaching has been established; a large number of trainings for local party and government cadres have been carried out, making positive contributions to the inheritance of red genes and the excavation of red resources. The "Hakka Music Culture" project was approved as the Guangdong Province Chinese Excellent Traditional Culture Inheritance Base, helping to improve the quality and level of the inheritance and development of Chinese excellent traditional culture. The school has established the Hakka Research Institute (including the Hakka Merchants Research Institute) and the Hakka College, set up the "Hakka Culture Research Base", and was approved as the first "National Hakka Studies Research Group-Hakka Studies Professional Committee of the Chinese Society of Anthropology and Ethnology"; cooperated with Meizhou City to hold large-scale events such as the "World Hakka Merchants Conference" and the "World Hakka Culture and Art Festival", and hosted the "Cross-Strait Hakka Culture Forum" and other activities; held Hakka research summer camps and Hakka studies forums every year, organized teachers and students to conduct red cultural research, and carried out a series of theme activities of "Promoting the Soviet Spirit and Inheriting the Red Gene", and held the "Soviet Spirit Lecture Hall" to inherit and promote the spirit of the original Central Soviet Area and the excellent Hakka traditional culture.

——International cooperation, open schooling. The school adheres to open schooling and continuously gathers development synergy in open cooperation. It has been awarded the title of "Indian Ocean Maritime Silk Road Academic Research Center" in Guangdong Province. In response to the national "Belt and Road" initiative, it has leveraged the advantages of Meizhou as an overseas Chinese hometown, strengthened international exchanges and cooperation with universities in Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, countries surrounding the Indian Ocean, and Europe and the United States, and established cooperative relations with more than 20 universities or departments in more than 10 countries to carry out in-depth exchanges. In recent years, 73 batches of subject leaders, backbone teachers, and management cadres have been sent abroad for study and exchanges; 5 batches of 38 teachers have been selected to participate in joint training doctoral programs with foreign universities, encouraging and supporting teachers to improve their academic qualifications; 23 batches of students have been sent abroad for study and internship; and the education and training of international students has been actively carried out. By inviting in and going out, a group of applied talents with international vision and the ability to participate in international exchanges and competition have been cultivated.

The school is seizing major opportunities such as the country's accelerated revitalization and development of the former Central Soviet Area, Guangdong Province's accelerated efforts to solve the problem of unbalanced and insufficient higher education, Guangdong Province's implementation of a new round of higher education "strengthening" improvement plan, and Sun Yat-sen University's "group-style" assistance to schools. We will adhere to and strengthen the party's overall leadership, implement the fundamental task of cultivating people with moral integrity, implement the "14th Five-Year Plan" and the medium- and long-term development goal plan, take high-quality development as the main line, deepen reform as the driving force, take connotation construction as the core, take "Master's degree" work as the focus, and take scale and quality coordinated development as the foundation to promote the rapid and high-quality development of the school and continue to strive to build a "high-level applied university"!
