Shandong University of Technology was founded in 1956 and is located in Zibo City, Shandong Province, the birthplace of the long-standing Qi culture. It is a university jointly built by the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense and the People's Government of Shandong Province, a high-level university construction unit in Shandong Province, and a multi-disciplinary university with science and engineering as the main focus of Shandong Province. The school is a national talent training model innovation experimental zone, the first batch of national "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program" pilot units, a national intellectual property pilot university, the first batch of higher education scientific and technological achievements transformation and technology transfer bases of the Ministry of Education, a national education informatization pilot excellent unit, a national university foreign language teaching reform pilot unit, a national college student KAB entrepreneurship education base, a graduate recommendation qualification university, the first batch of civilized campuses in Shandong Province, and a "Shandong Province Smart Education Demonstration School" creation unit. The school currently has 27 colleges and 24 school-level research institutes. It has 3 postdoctoral research stations, 4 first-level disciplines authorized for doctoral degrees, 25 first-level disciplines authorized for master's degrees, 21 authorized categories for master's professional degrees, 72 undergraduate majors, 3 provincial first-class disciplines, and provincial high-level disciplines such as agricultural engineering, mechanical engineering, and electrical engineering (cultivation). Disciplines such as chemistry, engineering, and materials science have entered the top 1% of the global ESI ranking. The disciplines cover 9 categories such as engineering, science, economics, and management, and have formed a discipline and professional layout with coordinated development of multiple disciplines. There are more than 34,000 full-time undergraduate students and more than 4,900 graduate students. The school is divided into two campuses, east and west, with a campus area of 3,600 acres and a building area of 1.17 million square meters. The library has a collection of 3.37 million books and 8.155 million electronic books and journals (including dissertations). The total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is 659 million yuan. It has 2 national (virtual simulation) experimental teaching demonstration centers, 4 national engineering practice education centers, 1 national key laboratory branch laboratory, 3 national engineering technology research centers (including branches), 2 national and local joint engineering research centers, 1 engineering research center of the Ministry of Education, 21 central and local co-construction laboratories, and a national key vocational teacher training base. It has 28 provincial teaching platforms such as the Shandong Provincial Ideological and Political Teaching Research Demonstration Center and the Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center, 29 provincial science and technology research platforms such as the Shandong Provincial Key Laboratory and the Engineering Technology Research Center, and 14 provincial social science research platforms such as the Shandong Provincial Social Science Planning Key Research Base. Shandong Engineering Technology Research Institute and the National University Ideological and Political Theory Teacher Information Database are located in our school. The school vigorously implements the "talent priority strategy", regards the construction of the teaching staff as the "primary project", insists on both introduction and cultivation, and has been rated as an advanced unit for talent work in Shandong Province. There are 2,300 full-time teachers, including 312 professors, 789 associate professors, and 1,285 teachers with doctoral degrees. There are 34 national talents, including dual-appointed academicians, overseas academicians, Yangtze River Scholars, experts of national key talent projects, leading talents of the Ten Thousand Talents Program, young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions to the country, and national talents of 100,000,000 people; 86 provincial and ministerial talents, including top talents introduced by Shandong Province through "one case, one discussion", candidates for special allowances from the State Council, candidates for the "Hundred Talents Program" of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, candidates for the New Century Excellent Talents Support Program of the Ministry of Education, Taishan series talents, young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions in Shandong Province, and provincial teaching masters; 70 specially appointed professors. The school has always adhered to the central position of teaching work, deepened the comprehensive reform of education and teaching, implemented the talent training quality improvement project, and focused on cultivating high-level application-oriented professionals with social responsibility, innovative spirit, specialized knowledge, practical ability, and healthy body and mind. Since the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan", the school has won 31 provincial and above teaching achievement awards, including the second prize of national teaching achievements and the special prize of provincial teaching achievements. It has 17 national first-class undergraduate professional construction sites, 5 characteristic majors, and 3 first-batch "Excellence Plan" pilot majors of the Ministry of Education; 7 national first-class undergraduate courses, 5 quality courses, 3 quality resource sharing courses, and 1 bilingual demonstration course; 32 national planning textbooks; 2 national teaching teams. Deepening the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education, the Dahonglu Maker Space was approved as the "National Registered Maker Space" by the Ministry of Science and Technology. Since the "12th Five-Year Plan", students have won nearly 10,000 awards at the provincial and ministerial levels in major events such as the "Internet +" College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition and the "Challenge Cup". The employment rate and employment quality of graduates are among the top provincial universities. According to a survey by a third-party evaluation agency, employers and graduates are highly satisfied, and it has been rated as an advanced collective for employment of ordinary colleges and universities in Shandong Province. Deepening the reform of graduate education training mode, since the "12th Five-Year Plan", 153 provincial graduate education quality improvement plan projects have been approved, 75 provincial outstanding doctoral and master's degree theses have been awarded, and it has been rated as an advanced unit for graduate education management and discipline construction in Shandong Province. The university adheres to the scientific research policy of "producing talents, producing results and producing benefits", actively serves the regional economic and social development, takes the initiative to connect with the major projects of Shandong Province's transformation of new and old kinetic energy, and builds 112 scientific and technological research and development and technology transfer and transformation institutions with local governments, and is awarded the title of "Shandong Province's Outstanding Contribution University in Industry-University-Research Cooperation Innovation". Since the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan", it has won 9 national science and technology awards. Since the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan", the university has undertaken 1,843 provincial and ministerial projects, including national key research and development plan projects, major research projects of philosophy and social sciences of the Ministry of Education, and commissioned projects, including 573 national projects; and won 307 scientific research awards at the provincial and ministerial levels. The major invention patent of the new chlorine-free fluorine polyurethane chemical foaming agent was identified as a "revolutionary and subversive" achievement, with an exclusive license fee of 520 million yuan, setting a national record, and won the Shandong Province Patent Special Award. From 2017 to 2019, it won 4 first prizes for outstanding achievements in social sciences in Shandong Province for three consecutive years. In 2018, it won 9 Shandong Provincial Science and Technology Awards, and the number of first prizes ranked first among provincial universities that year. In 2019, it was approved as a provincial university science and technology park. The school adheres to the principle of opening up to the outside world and expanding international exchanges and cooperation. It has established friendly cooperative relations with 119 universities and research institutes in 32 countries including the United States, Russia, and South Korea, and has 4 undergraduate programs in Sino-foreign cooperative education. Actively develop education for international students. It is a training institution for international students in China with Chinese government scholarships. It has passed the national higher education quality certification for international students in China, and is steadily forming an international student training system with undergraduate, master and doctoral students as the main body and Chinese language teaching as the auxiliary.
