Hebei Institute of Architecture and Engineering

Hebei Institute of Architecture and Engineering is located in Zhangjiakou, a famous city of the Winter Olympics, which is known as the "Second Yan'an" and the "Great Wall Museum". The school's history can be traced back to the Chahar Zhangjiakou Technical School established in 1950. In 1978, it was upgraded to the undergraduate college "Hebei Institute of Architecture and Engineering". It is one of the first batch of colleges with bachelor's degree-granting authority approved by the State Council. In 2008, it was awarded "excellent" in the undergraduate teaching level evaluation of the Ministry of Education. In 2013, it was approved as a master's degree-granting institution. It is the only public general college in Hebei Province that focuses on cultivating civil engineering and construction professionals. After more than 70 years of construction and development, the school has developed into a distinctive college with civil engineering and construction as the main disciplines, and engineering, management, science, literature, and art. Support and coordinate the development of multiple disciplines.

The school covers an area of ​​810 mu and has a building area of ​​280,000 square meters. There are 785 faculty members, including 100 senior professional titles, 243 associate senior professional titles, 40 doctors and 559 masters. There are 14,274 full-time master and undergraduate students and more than 9,000 continuing education students. The school has 11 secondary colleges (departments) including the School of Civil Engineering, the School of Mechanical Engineering, the School of Electrical Engineering, the School of Architecture and Art, the School of Economics and Management, the School of Information Engineering, the Department of Energy Engineering, the Department of Municipal and Environmental Engineering, the Department of Mathematics and Physics, the Department of Foreign Languages, and the Department of Information Management, as well as the School of Marxism, the Department of Physical Education and the School of Continuing Education.

The school currently has three first-level academic master's degree granting points in architecture, civil engineering, and computer science and technology, four professional master's degree authorization categories in civil engineering and water conservancy, art, machinery, and electronic information, and 43 undergraduate majors, of which 9 undergraduate majors have been selected as provincial first-class undergraduate major construction points. There are 2 provincial key disciplines, 3 provincial key development disciplines, 2 national characteristic specialty construction sites, 1 national professional comprehensive reform pilot, 3 provincial professional comprehensive reform pilots, 5 provincial brand characteristic majors, 2 provincial postgraduate training bases, 3 provincial education innovation highlands, 4 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers, 1 national college student off-campus practice education base, 1 provincial college student entrepreneurship incubation demonstration park (mass innovation space), and 1 Hebei Province Socialist Theory System Research Base. A total of 5 majors have passed the professional education evaluation of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. The school currently has 12 research institutes, 1 Hebei Provincial Academician Workstation, 2 provincial key laboratories, 2 provincial technology innovation centers, 1 provincial engineering research center, 3 provincial college application technology research and development centers, 1 engineering training center, and 185 internship bases and 15 scientific research bases jointly built by schools and enterprises. The school library has a collection of 1.3457 million books, including 971,300 paper books and 374,400 electronic books.

After more than 70 years of development, the school's scale of operation has continued to expand, the level and structure have been continuously optimized, and the discipline and professional system, talent training quality, scientific and technological innovation level, social service ability, faculty quality, campus cultural taste, infrastructure conditions and other aspects have been comprehensively developed. The school-running level has been significantly improved, and it has made outstanding contributions to the urban and rural construction of the country and Hebei Province. The school enjoys a high reputation in the country, especially in the construction industry.
