• In 2012, everything started with a brush

Three engineering students - Alex Frommer, Alex Curry, and Dan Dykes - met during their studies at the University of Louisville in Kentucky. Due to their families' connections with the dental industry, they found a disconnect between the price and availability of dental services. At present, more than 100 million Americans do not have dental insurance.

In order to modernize the dental industry, they utilized their engineering and technical background to develop a Bluetooth connected toothbrush called Beam Brush, which will become one of the earliest examples of the Internet of Things in the healthcare field. Beam Brush is the foundation of the industry's first dental health plan.

• Beam Dental was established in 2014

Beam Brush has been a great success, selling thousands of toothbrushes in the United States. At this point, three engineers turned their toothbrushes into a company they called Beam Dental. The three of them moved from Louisville, Kentucky to Columbus, Ohio. Beam

• 2015-2016 Smarter Dental Care

Beam plans to expand its business beyond Beam Brush and provide dental benefits to more employers across the country. The company meets the insurance filing requirements and can begin selling dental insurance to employers in California, Ohio, and Texas.

• In 2017, we reached new heights

Beam has expanded its dental benefits to a total of 16 states, serving thousands of new members nationwide, and partnered with VSP to begin selling vision benefits. In addition, Beam received a Series B funding of $5.5 million led by Lewis&Clark Ventures.

• Rethinking the dental field in 2018

Beam has rebuilt its dental welfare model with a customer-centric digital focus, raising over $22 million in Series C funding led by renowned venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins. This enables Beam to further invest in data-driven technologies, including Beam mobile applications, to better serve its members.

• In 2019, startups became well-known brands

This is a decisive moment for Beam, as the company expands its business to 40 states and provides dental benefits to over 50000 members. The number of employees at Beam has tripled compared to the previous year, reaching nearly 250 people.

• More providers in 2020, more ways to save

In an unprecedented year, Beam has significantly increased its membership and employee numbers, with nearly 300 employees. Beam has partnered with Dental Benefit Provider (DBP) to expand its provider network, increasing the number of nationwide access points to 400000, helping members save on dental expenses.

• Advantages of Further Modernization in 2021

Beam raised $80 million in Series E funding from a group of investors, including Mercato Partners' growth equity fund Traverse, bringing its total funding to over $160 million. The company provides services to employers in 41 states, with revenue growth exceeding 600% within three years and a doubling of membership to nearly 180000 members. one

• The evolution of 2022 Beam is a welfare revolution

Beam has developed into a one-stop service provider offering additional benefits, expanding its business scope from dental and vision insurance to voluntary and group term life insurance, as well as supplementary health benefits. Beam Dental has been renamed Beam Benefits and expanded its business to 45 states, serving over 250000 people. It has been named one of the fastest-growing technology companies in the United States by Deloitte and Inc. Magazine.

Ten years ago, three engineering students gathered together to create Beam. They still remembered their original intention and led the company to continuous development. Beam opened a new chapter in employee welfare reform.
