Hebei University of Technology

The predecessor of Hebei University of Technology was Beiyang Industrial School founded in 1903. It is one of the earliest universities in my country to train industrial talents and founded the earliest university-run factory in the country. In 1929, it was renamed Hebei Provincial Institute of Technology and in 1995, it was renamed Hebei University of Technology. In 1996, the school was listed among the first batch of key universities in the national "211 Project"; in 2014, it was jointly built by Hebei Province, Tianjin City and the Ministry of Education; in 2017, it was selected as a national "double first-class" construction university. For 118 years, the school has always adhered to the school-running tradition of "promoting industry and serving the country" and the school motto of "diligence, prudence and loyalty", formed the school-running characteristics of "combining engineering and learning", and trained more than 300,000 outstanding graduates for the country. In recent years, the three disciplines of materials science, chemistry, and engineering have entered the top 1% of the ESI global rankings respectively, and are constantly moving forward. In 2020, it was awarded the title of "National Civilized Campus".

The school has 21 teaching institutions and currently has 62 undergraduate enrollment majors, including 30 national first-class undergraduate major construction points, covering seven major disciplines of engineering, science, economics, management, literature, law, and art. It has 1 national "world-class discipline", 2 national key disciplines, 3 world-class discipline construction projects in Hebei Province, 4 national first-class discipline construction projects in Hebei Province, and 7 key disciplines in Tianjin. It has 10 postdoctoral research mobile stations, 11 first-level doctoral degree authorization points, 26 first-level master's degree authorization points, 17 professional degree categories, and 28 professional degree master authorization fields. There are more than 23,000 full-time undergraduate students and more than 7,500 graduate students.

The school vigorously implements the talent-strengthening project, adheres to the combination of introduction and cultivation, vigorously implements the "Yuan Guang Scholar Plan", and continuously innovates the talent work system and mechanism. The age, academic qualifications, and academic background structure of the talent team are further optimized, and a group of discipline leaders, outstanding young talents, and innovation teams are gathered. There are more than 2,700 faculty and staff, including more than 1,600 full-time teachers.

In recent years, based on the major national strategic needs of the coordinated development of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei and the development needs of regional industrial transformation and upgrading, the school has established a "landing and high-level" scientific research work idea based on the platform jointly built by the province, city and ministry, and gathered regional school resources. The school has built 54 national and provincial and ministerial scientific research platforms including the provincial and ministerial co-construction national key laboratory, the national engineering technology research center, and the national and local joint engineering laboratory. Won the second prize of the National Natural Science Award, the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, the Hou Debang Chemical Science and Technology Achievement Award, the Hebei Science and Technology Outstanding Contribution Award and many other provincial and ministerial awards. During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, the school hosted 21 major national key projects, more than 400 National Natural Science Foundation projects, more than 2,700 authorized patents, and was approved as the first batch of national intellectual property pilot universities, ranking 70th in the top 100 Chinese universities in terms of patents. The first "Yuanguang" small satellite was successfully launched on the Long March 8 carrier rocket and operated in orbit. The high-performance robot tactile sensing intelligent system was selected into the 2020 "Science and Technology Innovation China" leading technology list. The school has an annual science and technology fund of 300 million yuan, and more than 100 scientific research results have won national and provincial awards. It is the university with the most provincial science and technology outstanding contribution awards in Hebei Province, and it is also one of the top ten outstanding invention and creation units in Hebei Province.

The school pays attention to international exchanges and cooperation, and has now formed a new pattern of international cooperation in running schools in an all-round, multi-level and wide-ranging manner. At present, the school has signed cooperation agreements with more than 60 foreign universities, and cooperative training covers all levels from undergraduate to doctoral. The school cooperated with Lappeenranta University of Technology in Lappeenranta, Finland to build the "Hebei University of Technology Finland Campus", and with the world-renowned University of Arizona to build the "Hebei University of Technology Arizona Institute of Technology". The school currently has nearly 1,000 students in the Sino-foreign cooperative education program and more than 290 international students.

At present, the joint construction of the province, city and ministry has built a new development platform for the school. The national "Double First-Class" construction has allowed the school's development to enter a "new era" and embark on a new journey. The school has achieved remarkable results in discipline construction, talent training, faculty team construction, teaching and scientific research.
