Binzhou Medical College

Binzhou Medical College is an applied undergraduate college in Shandong Province, a college jointly built by Shandong Province and the city, and a doctoral degree awarding project construction unit in Shandong Province. Its predecessor was the former National Shandong University Medical College founded in 1946. In March 1956, it was independently established as Qingdao Medical College. In October 1970, it moved to Beizhen, the seat of the Huimin District Administrative Office of Shandong Province. In November 1974, the Beizhen Branch of Qingdao Medical College was established. In September 1981, it was renamed Beizhen Medical College. In March 1983, it was renamed Binzhou Medical College along with its seat. In 2002, the Yantai campus was put into use. At present, the school has developed into a provincial undergraduate medical school with medical disciplines as its advantage, higher education for the disabled and higher education for rehabilitation as its characteristics, and the infiltration, integration and coordinated development of multiple disciplines such as medicine, science, engineering, management and education.

School scale The school has 17,241 full-time students, including 15,306 undergraduates and 1,525 postgraduates, and recruits students from 29 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government; there are 410 international students. There are currently 16 colleges (departments) including the First Clinical Medical College, the Second Clinical Medical College, the Basic Medical College, the School of Special Education, the School of Stomatology, the School of Nursing, the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, the School of Marxism, the School of Pharmacy (School of Wine), the School of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, the School of Public Health and Management, the School of Foreign Languages ​​and International Exchange, the School of Rehabilitation Medicine, the School of Geriatric Medicine, the School of Medical Imaging, and the School of Continuing Education.

Talent cultivation The school has always taken moral education as its fundamental task and talent cultivation as its center, upholding the school motto of "benevolence and wonderful skills", promoting the school spirit of "unity, rigor, truth-seeking and innovation", and practicing the teaching style of "teaching and educating people, being a role model, rigorous scholarship, dedication and dedication" and the academic style of "advocating science, pursuing truth, diligent study, honesty and trustworthiness". Over the past 40 years of independent operation, it has trained 156,000 medical and medicine-related talents of various types for the society. The quality of student training has been fully affirmed by employers and widely praised by all sectors of society. It has created a graduate brand of "simple style, solid foundation and down-to-earth work", and a group of academic masters, industry leaders and grassroots medical workers who save lives and heal the wounded have emerged, such as Meng Xiangjin, a member of the American Academy of Sciences, who have made positive contributions to the development of the country and the nation. In 2006, the university received excellent results in the evaluation of undergraduate teaching work by the Ministry of Education. In 2013, it was the first among universities in Shandong Province to pass the Ministry of Education's clinical medicine professional certification with an excellent result of "6 years of full certification", and in 2020, it was approved to extend the certification period to 10 years. In 2016, it passed the Ministry of Education's undergraduate teaching work review and evaluation. The school is now a national clinical medicine and traditional Chinese medicine professional level test unit, the first batch of undergraduate professional comprehensive reform pilot units of the Ministry of Education's "Undergraduate Teaching Project", a pilot unit for the comprehensive reform of clinical medicine education in the "5+3" excellent doctor education and training program, and a pilot university for the reform of the excellent doctor traditional Chinese medicine education and training program; it is a national standardized training base for resident doctors, a training base for 10,000 nursing talents, a training base for clinical pharmacists, and a training base for general practitioners.

Special Education In 1985, the school founded the first undergraduate major (Department II of Medicine) in my country that specifically recruits disabled young people, creating a precedent for higher education for people with disabilities in my country. In 2012, the school enrolled visually impaired students, and in 2018, it enrolled hearing-impaired students, filling the gap in the education of visually impaired and hearing-impaired students at the undergraduate level in medical schools across the country. Over the past 30 years, it has explored and formed the "Binzhou Medical College Model" for the training of disabled talents with "integration of the disabled and the healthy, combination of teaching and rehabilitation, and integration of learning and application", and has trained more than 1,300 disabled medical talents for the society, making positive contributions to promoting the cause of national progress and civilization. The school is now a national higher education base for the disabled, a standardized training base for blind medical massage, and a standardized training base for rehabilitation physicians.

Disciplines and majors There are 34 undergraduate majors including clinical medicine, stomatology, nursing, pediatrics, traditional Chinese medicine, pharmacy, rehabilitation therapy, special education, and biopharmaceuticals. Among them, there is 1 national first-class undergraduate major construction site, 4 national characteristic majors, 4 Shandong Province high-level application-oriented project construction professional groups, and 25 first-class professional construction sites. It has 6 first-level disciplines authorized to grant master's degrees and 9 master's professional degree authorization points; there are 8 provincial and ministerial key disciplines. Clinical medicine is committed to the cultivation of "excellent doctors" and the construction of new medicine. It has opened the "Academician New Medicine Experimental Class". It has entered the top 5‰ of the ESI global ranking, and has been selected as the "First-Class Discipline in Shandong Province" and the "High-level Discipline" construction list of Shandong Province. It has been approved as a professional docking industry project for the transformation of new and old kinetic energy in Shandong Province; the pharmacy discipline is a national characteristic professional construction point, and has been selected as a "high-level discipline" cultivation discipline in Shandong Province. It actively serves the development of the regional bio-pharmaceutical industry and adheres to the integration of industry, academia, research and application, and the characteristic development of school-enterprise cooperation. Clinical medicine, basic medicine, and nursing are in the top 50% of the "Soft Science China Best Discipline Ranking". There is one national virtual simulation experimental teaching center, one key research room of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, one Shandong Provincial Engineering Laboratory, two technology innovation centers (preparatory), one humanities and social sciences base, four Shandong Provincial Collaborative Innovation Centers, 22 department-level scientific research platforms, and 23 provincial-level key clinical specialties in the directly affiliated hospitals. There are 2 national first-class courses, 29 Shandong first-class undergraduate courses, 32 quality courses (bilingual teaching demonstration courses), 3 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers, and 1 provincial talent training model innovation experimental zone.

Scientific Research In the past five years, the university has undertaken more than 1,400 scientific research projects, including 102 National Natural Science Foundation projects, 2 National Social Science Foundation projects, and 308 provincial and ministerial projects; 15 provincial and ministerial scientific research achievement awards; 114 books and 558 textbooks have been published; more than 2,500 papers with complete intellectual property rights have been published in SCI, CSSCI, and excellent journals, including 10 collaborative articles published in journals such as Nature, The New England Journal of Medicine, and The Lancet; 169 patents have been obtained, including 100 invention patents; and the university has participated in the development of my country's first independently developed and approved original ADC anti-tumor new drug-Edixi injection. It has undertaken 107 provincial teaching reform projects and won 23 provincial teaching achievement awards, including 1 special prize and 8 first prizes; it has won 1 second prize in the first national textbook construction and 3 first-class textbooks for ordinary higher education in Shandong Province. Conditions and Facilities There are two campuses in Yantai and Binzhou, covering an area of ​​1,718.17 acres and a total construction area of ​​809,000 square meters; state-owned assets of 1.73 billion yuan, teaching and scientific research instruments and equipment with a total value of 460 million yuan; the library has a collection of 1.442 million books; there are 5 directly affiliated tertiary hospitals and 18 non-directly affiliated hospitals. Binzhou Affiliated Hospital is a regional medical center in Shandong Province, with a construction area of ​​314,000 square meters, fixed assets of 2.56 billion yuan, of which the total value of instruments and equipment is 1.15 billion yuan, and 2,802 open beds. Yantai Affiliated Hospital is the first provincial large-scale tertiary comprehensive hospital in Yantai and Weihai, with a construction area of ​​229,000 square meters, fixed assets of 1.4 billion yuan, and 1,690 open beds. Yantai City Yantaishan Hospital is a tertiary-level A-class comprehensive hospital with a construction area of ​​303,700 square meters and 2,016 beds. Yantai City Stomatological Hospital is a tertiary-level A-class dental hospital with 260 dental comprehensive treatment chairs, and is a national standardized training base for dental residents. Binzhou City Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital is a tertiary-level A-class traditional Chinese medicine hospital with 550 beds, and is a national standardized training base for traditional Chinese medicine residents and a pilot unit for standardized traditional Chinese medicine services.
