The predecessor of Jining Medical University was Shandong Jining Medical College, which was founded in 1952 and is located in Jining City, Shandong Province. In 1958, it was renamed Jining Medical College and enrolled the first batch of undergraduate students; in 1959, it was renamed Jining Medical College; in January 1987, it was approved by the former State Education Commission and renamed Jining Medical College; in April 2008, the school successfully passed the undergraduate teaching level evaluation of the Ministry of Education with "excellent" results.
