Zhejiang University of Finance and Economics is located in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, which is known as the "paradise on earth". It is a financial university with economics and management as the main disciplines, and coordinated development of multiple disciplines such as economics, management, literature, law, science, engineering, art, and philosophy. The school was formerly the Zhejiang Finance and Banking School founded in 1974. It was approved to establish the Zhejiang University of Finance and Economics in 1987, obtained the right to confer bachelor's degrees in 1991, the right to confer master's degrees in 2003, and was approved to serve the national special needs doctoral talent training project in 2012. It was renamed Zhejiang University of Finance and Economics in 2013, approved as a postdoctoral research mobile station in 2014, listed as a key construction university in Zhejiang Province in 2017, and approved as a doctoral degree-granting institution in 2018.

The school currently has four campuses, Xiasha, Wenhua, Cuiyuan and Chang'an, covering an area of ​​2,300 acres and a total construction area of ​​1.05 million square meters. There are 16 colleges, 1 teaching department, 1 independent college and 4 research institutes. It has the right to confer doctoral, master's and bachelor's degrees and the right to recruit foreign students, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan students. There are more than 17,000 ordinary full-time students in the school (excluding independent colleges). It has two first-level doctoral programs in applied economics and statistics, 10 first-level master's programs in public administration, business administration, theoretical economics, law, management science and engineering, Chinese language and literature, foreign language and literature, and urban and rural planning, and 18 professional master's programs in taxation, accounting, asset evaluation, auditing, public administration, finance, insurance, business administration, international business, law, applied statistics, Chinese international education, translation, social work, journalism and communication, electronic information, engineering management, and art. Applied economics is a provincial advantage and characteristic discipline, and two disciplines such as applied economics and statistics are provincial A-level first-class disciplines. Four disciplines such as public administration, business administration, theoretical economics, and Chinese language and literature are provincial B-level first-class disciplines.

The school insists on taking scientific research innovation as the way to strengthen the school and continuously improves its social service capabilities. It has one provincial key research base for philosophy and social sciences, two provincial 2011 collaborative innovation centers, one provincial new key professional think tank, three provincial new university think tanks, one provincial key innovation team, one provincial university innovation team, and three provincial university high-level innovation teams. Four teachers have won the Sun Yefang Economic Science Award for their single or co-authored works. In recent years, the school has won 94 scientific research awards at the provincial and ministerial levels, undertaken 430 national scientific research projects and 1,100 provincial and ministerial scientific research projects, and the number of national scientific research projects in philosophy and social sciences ranks among the top universities in Zhejiang Province. We have carried out in-depth strategic cooperation with government agencies, industry associations, enterprises and institutions, and vigorously strengthened the collaborative innovation of government, industry, academia and research. It has the earliest ACCA and CGA examination centers in Zhejiang Province and is certified as an ACCA platinum-level accredited educational institution.
