Founded in 1959, Jiangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine is located in Nanchang, the capital of Jiangxi Province, which is "rich in resources and talented in people". The school is a university jointly established by the Ministry of Education, the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the People's Government of Jiangxi Province, and is a national doctoral degree-granting institution. The school currently has more than 17,000 full-time students, 17 educational and teaching institutions, 3 directly affiliated hospitals, 9 non-directly affiliated hospitals, and 181 practical teaching bases of various types. There are 29 undergraduate majors, covering medicine, science, engineering, literature, economics, management, art, education and other disciplines, including 5 national first-class professional construction sites and 10 provincial first-class professional construction sites. It has 3 authorization points for first-level doctoral degrees in Chinese medicine and Chinese pharmacy and doctoral professional degrees in Chinese medicine, 6 first-level master's degree authorization points, 6 master's professional degree authorization categories, and 40 master's enrollment majors. It has 3 first-class disciplines in Jiangxi Province, 18 key disciplines of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and 7 national key clinical specialties (special diseases). The school has the qualifications to recommend outstanding undergraduate graduates to study for a master's degree without examination and the "5+3" integrated enrollment of Chinese medicine majors. It is a pilot university for the reform of the Excellent Doctor (TCM) Education and Training Program of the Ministry of Education and the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and the only pilot unit in the country for the reform of standardized training for TCM resident physicians. The school has 3 national scientific research platforms (National Engineering Research Center for Manufacturing Technology of Solid Preparations of Traditional Chinese Medicine, National and Local Joint Engineering Research Center for Key Technologies and Processes of Sino-Mongolian Pills, and National Key Laboratory for Innovative Drugs and High-efficiency Energy-saving and Consumption-reducing Pharmaceutical Equipment). The school won 1 first prize and 1 second prize for national teaching achievements as an independent completion unit. Among them, the "Double-Wei Practice Education Model" won the first prize for national teaching achievements, achieving a zero breakthrough in Jiangxi Province for this award. As the first completion unit, it won 2 second prizes for national scientific and technological progress and 4 first prizes for provincial scientific and technological progress. Among them, the "Creation and Promotion of Thermosensitive Moxibustion Technology" won the second prize for national scientific and technological progress, filling the gap in the medical field in Jiangxi; the "Modernization of Traditional Chinese Medicine Manufacturing-Research and Application of Key Technologies for Solid Preparation Industrialization" project won the second prize for national scientific and technological progress, achieving a zero breakthrough in this award for Jiangxi medicine. The research and development of "Pulsatilla saponin extract and pulsatilla saponin extract injection" was approved as a national Class II new veterinary drug. It is the fifth and sixth Class II new Chinese medicine veterinary drug approved in the country since the implementation of the classification and registration management of new veterinary drugs, marking a major breakthrough in Jiangxi veterinary drug research. In the past five years, it has undertaken more than 600 scientific research projects at the provincial and ministerial levels, with an average annual scientific research fund of nearly 60 million yuan, and won 51 scientific research awards at the provincial and ministerial levels.

In September 2020, the pharmacology and toxicology disciplines entered the top 1% of ESI for the first time, indicating that the pharmacology and toxicology disciplines of our school, with Chinese medicine as the main body, have entered the ranks of world-class disciplines. In 2021, the school ranked 212th in the national colleges and universities of the Alumni Association, an increase of 43 places from 2020; it ranked 8th in the national colleges and universities of traditional Chinese medicine, an increase of 3 places from 2020. 23 majors of the school are ranked in the top 50% of the national soft science majors, among which the Chinese medicine major is rated A. In 2022, the three disciplines of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine were selected as first-class disciplines in Jiangxi Province (second round), and were approved as peak advantages, peak characteristics, and potential development disciplines (second round), respectively, and received 350 million yuan in construction funding support.

The key technologies and equipment for Chinese medicine pharmaceutical series developed by the school have been adopted by more than 100 companies. The original innovation achievement - "thermosensitive moxibustion" theory and technology, reveals the difference between acupuncture points and moxibustion points, creates a new way to treat diseases with endogenous thermosensitive regulation, and creates a pattern of "looking at Tianjin acupuncture in the north and Jiangxi moxibustion in the south". Chinese medicine processing was approved as the first batch of national-level Chinese medicine processing technology inheritance bases.

The directly affiliated hospital, Jiangxi Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine (Jiangxi Provincial Hospital of Orthopedics and Traumatology, Jiangxi Provincial Hospital of Anorectal Surgery), is the leading and central hospital of Jiangxi's traditional Chinese medicine medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, and preventive health care. It is the largest, most comprehensive, most technically advanced, and closely integrated modern large-scale comprehensive traditional Chinese medicine hospital in the province. It is also the first "Grade 3 Class A Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital" in Jiangxi Province, with an annual service volume of one million people and 1,738 open beds. It was selected as a construction unit of the National Center for the Inheritance and Innovation of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and has been awarded dozens of honorary titles such as "National Advanced Unit in the Health System", "National Advanced Collective in the Medical and Health System", "National Advanced Collective in the Construction of Work Style in the Health System", "National Model Workers' Home", and "National Advanced Collective in Emergency Work of Traditional Chinese Medicine". It is a national traditional Chinese medicine cultural publicity and education base, the first batch of national drug adverse reaction monitoring sentinel units, a construction unit of the National Traditional Chinese Medicine Clinical Research Base, and the chairman unit of the Jiangxi Provincial Federation of Traditional Chinese Medicine Medical Association. The Jiangxi Hospital of Longhua Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, a national regional medical center project led by the affiliated hospital, has been officially unveiled and put into operation, and has made new progress. It is making every effort to create a new driving force, new model, new heights and new business cards to lead the high-quality development of Jiangxi's traditional Chinese medicine. The Second Affiliated Hospital was approved as a "Grade 3 Class A Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine" in 2018, with more than 400 beds. The school founded the world's first thermosensitive moxibustion hospital-Jiangxi Thermosensitive Moxibustion Hospital, and established the Jiangxi Traditional Chinese Medicine Rehabilitation (Thermosensitive Moxibustion) Alliance, which has 69 branches around the world. It co-built and co-managed the Jiangxi Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine (the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Jiangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine) with the Nanchang Municipal People's Government. During the anti-epidemic period, it took the lead in formulating the Jiangxi New Crown Pneumonia Traditional Chinese Medicine Prevention and Treatment Plan, established the first designated hospital for the combination of traditional Chinese and Western medicine outside Wuhan, Hubei, and organized traditional Chinese medicine experts to assist Uzbekistan in the fight against the epidemic, which was highly praised at home and abroad.

The school has a distinctive feature of combining industry, academia and research, and has created and developed a national high-tech enterprise-Jiangzhong (Pharmaceutical) Group. It has provided nearly 300 technical services to enterprises across the country, developed more than 70 traditional Chinese medicines and related products, and 16 products have achieved annual sales of more than 100 million yuan for a single product. It won the "China Industry-University-Research Cooperation Innovation Award" and "China Industry-University-Research Cooperation Promotion Award" issued by the China Industry-University-Research Cooperation Promotion Association.

The school thoroughly implemented the "Implementation Opinions on Promoting the Development of Thermal Moxibustion Industry" of the People's Government of Jiangxi Province, and helped our province promote the development of the 10 billion-level thermal moxibustion industry. Vigorously promote the construction of the core area of ​​Wanli, China (Nanchang) Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Innovation City. The school solidly promotes the construction of the Science and Technology Innovation City, actively promotes the National Innovation Center for Traditional Chinese Medicine Equipment, thermal moxibustion, aromatherapy, diet therapy and other technologies and industries to settle in Ganjiang New District, and continuously promotes the joint creation of the National Traditional Chinese Medicine Industry Innovation Center, and is committed to making the Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Innovation City a demonstration area for the high-quality development of traditional Chinese medicine in Jiangxi. The school is one of the first batch of higher education institutions approved by the Ministry of Education to accept foreign students. It has established long-term cooperative relations with more than 30 countries and regions, recruited doctoral students from abroad, and built the Confucius Institute of Semyung University in South Korea. It founded the first high-end platform in China to provide Chinese medicine experience services for foreign dignitaries-the Jiangzhong Experience Center of Qihuang Traditional Chinese Medicine for Foreign Dignitaries. It co-founded China's first "National Internationalization of Chinese Medicine Education (Nanchang) Experimental Zone" with the Education Development Research Center of the Ministry of Education of China and Jiangzhong Group. It took the lead in establishing the Thermosensitive Moxibustion Professional Committee of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, and successively opened Chinese medicine centers or thermosensitive moxibustion branches in Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland, Tunisia, Canada and other countries. It has established Chinese medicine centers in Portugal, Sweden, Tunisia and other countries, and established the "Global Traditional Medicine Research Institute" with Chinese and foreign universities such as the University of Adelaide in Australia. The school has thoroughly implemented the consensus of the 20th Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Member States on deepening solidarity and cooperation and building a closer community of shared future, giving full play to the advantages of traditional medicine, and successfully co-organizing the 2021 Shanghai Cooperation Organization Traditional Medicine Forum, adding a bright "Jiangzhong color" to the conference, which has been praised by domestic and foreign guests.
