Founded in 1959, Jiangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine is located in Nanchang, the capital of Jiangxi Province, which is "rich in resources and talented in people". The school adheres to the school motto of "serving the reform and development of the country, serving the development of traditional Chinese medicine, serving the local economic development and social progress", and promotes the school motto of "only learning, only people, seeking strength, and seeking excellence". The school is a university jointly established by the Ministry of Education, the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the People's Government of Jiangxi Province, and is a national doctoral degree-granting institution. The school currently has more than 17,000 full-time students, 17 educational and teaching institutions, 3 directly affiliated hospitals, 9 non-directly affiliated hospitals, and 181 practical teaching bases of various types. It is a pilot university for the reform of the Excellent Doctor (TCM) Education and Training Program of the Ministry of Education and the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and the only pilot unit in the country for the reform of standardized training for TCM resident physicians. The school won 1 first prize and 1 second prize for national teaching achievements as an independent completion unit. Among them, the "Double-Wei Practice Education Model" won the first prize for national teaching achievements, achieving a zero breakthrough in Jiangxi Province for this award. As the first completion unit, it won 2 second prizes for national scientific and technological progress and 4 first prizes for provincial scientific and technological progress. The research and development of "Pulsatilla saponin extract and pulsatilla saponin extract injection" was approved as a national Class II new veterinary drug. It is the fifth and sixth Class II new Chinese medicine veterinary drug approved in the country since the implementation of the classification and registration management of new veterinary drugs, marking a major breakthrough in Jiangxi veterinary drug research. In the past five years, it has undertaken more than 600 scientific research projects at the provincial and ministerial levels, with an average annual scientific research fund of nearly 60 million yuan, and won 51 scientific research awards at the provincial and ministerial levels.

In September 2020, the pharmacology and toxicology disciplines entered the top 1% of ESI for the first time, indicating that the pharmacology and toxicology disciplines of our school, with Chinese medicine as the main body, have entered the ranks of world-class disciplines. The original innovation achievement - "thermosensitive moxibustion" theory and technology, reveals the difference between acupuncture points and moxibustion points, creates a new way to treat diseases with endogenous thermosensitive regulation, and creates a pattern of "looking at Tianjin acupuncture in the north and Jiangxi moxibustion in the south". Chinese medicine processing was approved as the first batch of national-level Chinese medicine processing technology inheritance bases.

The directly affiliated hospital, Jiangxi Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine (Jiangxi Provincial Hospital of Orthopedics and Traumatology, Jiangxi Provincial Hospital of Anorectal Surgery), is the leading and central hospital of Jiangxi's traditional Chinese medicine medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, and preventive health care. It is the largest, most comprehensive, most technically advanced, and closely integrated modern large-scale comprehensive traditional Chinese medicine hospital in the province. It is also the first "Grade 3 Class A Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital" in Jiangxi Province, with an annual service volume of one million people and 1,738 open beds. It was selected as a construction unit of the National Center for the Inheritance and Innovation of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and has been awarded dozens of honorary titles such as "National Advanced Unit in the Health System", "National Advanced Collective in the Medical and Health System", "National Advanced Collective in the Construction of Work Style in the Health System", "National Model Workers' Home", and "National Advanced Collective in Emergency Work of Traditional Chinese Medicine". It is a national traditional Chinese medicine cultural publicity and education base, the first batch of national drug adverse reaction monitoring sentinel units, a construction unit of the National Traditional Chinese Medicine Clinical Research Base, and the chairman unit of the Jiangxi Provincial Federation of Traditional Chinese Medicine Medical Association. The Jiangxi Hospital of Longhua Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, a national regional medical center project led by the affiliated hospital, has been officially unveiled and put into operation, and has made new progress. The school founded the world's first thermosensitive moxibustion hospital-Jiangxi Thermosensitive Moxibustion Hospital, and established the Jiangxi Traditional Chinese Medicine Rehabilitation (Thermosensitive Moxibustion) Alliance, which has 69 branches around the world. It co-built and co-managed the Jiangxi Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine (the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Jiangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine) with the Nanchang Municipal People's Government. The school has a distinctive feature of combining industry, academia and research, and has created and developed a national high-tech enterprise-Jiangzhong (Pharmaceutical) Group. It has provided nearly 300 technical services to enterprises across the country, developed more than 70 traditional Chinese medicines and related products, and 16 products have achieved annual sales of more than 100 million yuan for a single product. The school is one of the first batch of higher education institutions approved by the Ministry of Education to accept foreign students. It has established Chinese medicine centers in Portugal, Sweden, Tunisia and other countries, and established the "Global Traditional Medicine Research Institute" with Chinese and foreign universities such as the University of Adelaide in Australia.
