Hunan Women's College

Hunan Women's College is a full-time public women's undergraduate college organized by the People's Government of Hunan Province. The school was founded in 1985 and upgraded to an undergraduate college in 2010 with the approval of the Ministry of Education. It passed the bachelor's degree authorization evaluation in 2014 and the undergraduate teaching qualification evaluation of the Ministry of Education in 2018. In 2021, it was approved as a construction unit for the Hunan Province Master's Degree Award. The school is the first public full-time women's general college after the founding of New China, one of the three independent women's general undergraduate colleges in the country, a university jointly established by the All-China Women's Federation and the People's Government of Hunan Province, a member of the World Women's Education Alliance, and a member of the China Women's College Alliance.

The establishment and development of the school is inseparable from the high care of governments and leaders at all levels. At the beginning of the school, Hu Yaobang wrote the name of the school and inscribed "The prosperity of the motherland requires more women talents"; Wang Guangmei, wife of former President Liu Shaoqi, served as the honorary principal of the school; Chen Muhua, Peng Peiyun, Gu Xiulian, Chen Zhili and others visited the school and guided the work.

School Conditions: The school is located in Changsha, a historical and cultural city, adjacent to the Provincial People's Government, covering an area of ​​370,200 square meters, and an area of ​​134,700 square meters for teaching and administrative buildings. The library has 1.1735 million paper books and 678,000 electronic books. There are 62 experimental training teaching sites on campus and 131 off-campus internship bases. A multifunctional gymnasium is built with complete sports supporting facilities required for teaching. The campus is shaded by green trees, with birds singing and flowers blooming. It is an ideal place for students to cultivate their sentiments and study. Faculty: The school currently has more than 650 faculty members, including more than 240 senior titles; more than 60 teachers with doctoral degrees and more than 430 teachers with master's degrees. The school has various national and provincial high-level experts and scholars, and the stratified training of the talent project on campus is very effective, providing a steady stream of talent and intellectual resources for the school's connotation-based development.

Disciplines and majors: The school has built a discipline and major system with coordinated development of multiple disciplines such as literature, management, art, law, economics, education, and engineering, and distinctive characteristics of women's education. It has two key construction disciplines in Hunan Province, namely comparative literature and world literature, and business management, and three Hunan Province "double first-class" construction application characteristic disciplines, namely sociology, business administration, and design. It has 8 secondary colleges (departments), 30 undergraduate majors, and 1 junior college major. It has 1 national first-class undergraduate major construction site (home economics), 9 provincial first-class undergraduate major construction sites, 5 special majors of the Ministry of Education, and 3 provincial professional comprehensive reform pilot projects. It recruits students from 23 provinces and cities across the country, with 10,396 students on campus.

Scientific research: The school has 6 provincial and above research bases, including the first batch of women/gender research and training bases in the country, the Hunan Provincial Citizen Etiquette Quality Research Base, the Hunan Provincial Huxiang Women's Culture Research Base, the Hunan Higher Education Discipline (Women's Education) Research Base, the Hunan Education Science Modern Home Economics Education Research Base, and the Hunan Higher Education Philosophy and Social Science Key Research Base "Modern Home Economics Development Research Center", 1 provincial scientific research innovation team "Modern Service Industry Integration Development Strategy Innovation Team", 23 school-level research institutions (centers), and built the first women's education development history museum in China.

Foreign Exchange: The school adheres to open education and actively carries out international cooperation and exchange work. It has signed friendly cooperation agreements with 26 universities or institutions in the United States, Australia, Japan, Russia and other countries as well as Hong Kong and Taiwan, and comprehensively carried out cooperation projects such as teachers and students going abroad for study, training, training, and exchange.
